after getting the vets ok, we have decided to go along with her spay later this morning. i have got her carrier out, made it nice & cushy, fed her a good dinner & pulled her food for the night (she looked at me like i was crazy), also got out her forti-cal so i can give her a lil bit in the morning since she'll be going all day without food. i planned on trying to keep her in her crate tho she is not crate trained to minimize her movement...is that ok? i don't want to stress her out, but i'm assuming she'll be out of if from the pain meds. any advice or tips are more than welcome. :) |
you are right, she will be a little out of it from the meds at first. Do you have a bathroom or closet that you can gate off instead of the crate-since she is not crate trained? She may be a bit upset being a crate since she hasn't been crate trained. Best of luck with her spay today. |

thanks.:) i actually thought about blocking off a little area of the hallway where she sleeps, but i wasn't sure if it would be too upsetting for her not to be in the living room with us. i don't know...i may just have to rush out and buy a used playpen or x-pen. i'm going to look at the second hand stores after i drop her off. but you're right that the carrier may upset her, and all though she can't be mobile i know mental stress can wreak havoc on their little bodies. |
well princess has been home for a few hours now and she is doing pretty good. since she's in heat i had them put a lil cone on her cuz i was worried she'd go from cleaning herself to cleaning the wound. i gave her some forti-cal as she hasn't ate yet. she's just chilling with me on the couch, i wanted her to feel comfortable as well as loved & not forgotten so i didn't want to partition her off somewhere. the only real problem i am having today is my nearly 14 y.o. daughter! lol...i'd rather deal with a teething, chewing, pooping, peeing puppy than deal with this! if you have any advice on either topic you go ahead and feel free to exercise your fingers! :p:D lol! |
oh and she got yet another clean bill of health....just 2 baby teeth that have to be removed, prob in six months so i can have a full dental done. |
