I'm so excited! Hi everyone! I'm so excited to find this group! After spending months reading posts here and trying to educate myself on all things Yorkie, I thought I'd finally say hello :) My sincere thanks to all of you who share advice, recommendations, and information; it's truly been invaluable! My husband and I picked out our "Little Dude" (can't decide on a name) Valentine's weekend, and went out to visit him yesterday. He's still too small to come home, but it's amazing how much he'd grown in just a few days. Hopefully he'll be ready to join our family in mid-March. I have 3 daughters and my oldest has been literally praying for a puppy for over a year. I CAN NOT WAIT to surprise my girls (thinking of maybe presenting him in an Easter basket?); they are going to be over the moon! It's been so hard to keep everything hush-hush when I can barely keep myself from telling everyone I know about "my" new Yorkie. Because after all, even though this will be the girls' pup, we all know who will be caring for him- me. ;) Looking forward to getting to know y'all! |
Hi and welcome to YT. It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful Easter. :) Congrats on your little addition and best of luck. You will certainly find lots of great information on here. Can't wait to see pictures of your little one. Hmmm, kinda like the name Little (Lil) Dude.:D |
Maybe you can call him Moon Unit Zappa...just kidding. Welcome to YT and Congrats on your little man. |
Hello and welcome aboard!!!!! Congrats on your new baby, he will be home with you before you know it! |
Welcome and I'm glad you posted now we can look forward to some pictures soon! |
Congratulations! The waiting is the hard part.:D |
Welcome to YT! I'm so excited for you and your family!! Can't wait to see pics of your little one!! :D |
Congratulations. Though the waiting is very hard it is so much fun to watch your baby grow from birth. I was able to do this with my last baby Sassy, I knew in my heart I would eventually have her, my husband said no more dogs, but I was able to bring her home at 10 weeks old. She joined her brothers Calvin and Hobbes. I wish my mom would have put a Yorkie in my Easter basket instead of a chocolate bunny. Welcome to YT, I also like the name but I am sure your girls will have a good time finding him the perfect name. |
How exciting. Maybe since you are getting him in Mid March it could be a St. Patrick's Day puppy? |
congrats!! can't wait to see pics!:D |
Welcome to YT. What an exciting time it is when a new family member joins in. Since dogs are social pack animals, just let your family know your ALL his caretakers AND his pack. This way no one is left out and no one is an exclusive owner. ;) Maybe you will get more help when all the newness wears off and no one can say "he isn't mine" when ask to scoop, brush, walk or bathe. ;) |
Hi and Welcome to YT. Looking forward to seeing the new addition to your family. |
Congrats and welcome to YT! |
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!! :) I think I'll start a new post with a few questions I have... |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Its so great when you're expecting a new puppy, I wish I could get another one..but 3 is enough, 3 yorkies and 1 african grey parrot, I hit my limit. |
Welcome to YT :) Looking forward to seeing photos of your Lil Dude and I really like your screename, too :p! |

Thanks!!! I'll have to give credit to my toddler for that- she's LOVING Mickey Mouse Clubhouse these days and the "Hot Dog Dance". It's really the only reason I have a chance to get on the computer! LOL! :D |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Congrats on your little dude!! I am a newbie to this forum too :) We got our little Teddy on Valentines day and I totally know what you are going through...we had him picked out weeks before he was ready to come home with us. Our breeder kept sending us updated pictures and it was great to see him grow! Your breeder is smart to keep him until he is big enough to go home with you. Once you get him you will be more in love then you are now. Your girls are going to love him! Wish you all the best!! |
Welcome! I am new as well! So far, everyone here has been very helpful!! Looking forward to getting to know you and everyone else too!! I have a 2 1/2 yr old yorkie, Bevo, and our newest was born Monday. :animal36 |
Welcome...I too am new to the site and to Yorkies. My little man has been with us 4 weeks. You will have so much fun, and your children will find "THE PERFECT NAME". Good Luck holding out  |
I know you must be excited for "Little Dude" to swagger into your living room and right into your heart! It is the most exciting thing to bring a new Yorkie into the house and sit down and just watch them. Give him some time and space to adjust and just kind of let him be if you can. Boy, I'm getting excited for you all. What fun you're in for over the next weeks and months. Yes, some work and angst too, but the main thing is YOU ARE GETTING A NEW YORKIE!!!! Tell us all about it when the time comes. We can vicariously enjoy it all, too. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I don't know how you are able to keep this a secret. I don't think I could. :) I have a feeling this pup will be loved so much. Can't wait to see pictures of him once he is settled in his new home. Waiting is so hard, at least it was for me. Hang in there, he will be so worth it. |
Welcome! Can't wait to see pictures of the little guy, so glad you joined us. :D |

Thank you! Congrats on little Teddy (cute name!)- it IS fun to see them so small and watch them grow. We actually went to visit with the breeder back in December, and checked out all the momma and poppa dogs. At that time, the breeder was "pretty sure" Lucy & Pepper were expecting, and I LOVED both of them- temperment, size, coloring, etc. So I watched and waited and checked her website obsessively for news. LOL! Once we knew the puppies had been born, I was so excited, but then when we got to go see them in person- WOW! :D |

He will! He will! He will!!! Thanks again to everyone who made me feel so welcome here and for sharing in my excitement! Now, my husband and I just need to decide on his name. He can't be Little Dude forever, and if we let the girls decide he'll wind up with something like Moonbeam! Or some variation on pink, glitter, rainbow, or sparkle... We'd like him to have some dignity... LOL! |
