I Think I Got An Un-Yorki Yorki.... 2 Attachment(s) this is my first yorki so i didnt know what to exspect. But my yorki sphi is larger than what i was told she would be(shes 11lbs not 7.5 like what i was told she would be), her hair is very wavy, and fairly dull. and her coloring is not like most other yorkis(shes silver and light tan) heres some pics:: |
How can you say her hair is "fairly dull"? Looks like ALOT of color to me...LOL:D Did you dye her hair? I think she is cute as a button. |
she looks like a Yorkie in that picture. Why is the top of her head green? Is she older? I have a friend who has an all silver Yorkie with the tan. She is very cute in that picture.. |

11 lbs is not unusual for a Yorkie to grow to. She is a light silver color on her back. In terms of "dullness" of coat, I'd look first to proper nutrition, proper bathing and shampoos. |
:) your yorkie is lovely , what is the green fur ? love jill n poppy xx :aimeeyork |
How sad, I think shes beautiful. I see a lot of yorkies with silver "saddle" areas, this is pretty normal. She looks like a yorkie to me, I'd lovr her no matter what she was anyways! As for dull coats nutrition is probably to blame, I'd ask a groomer or your vet- it might be dull from dying it??? |
I have a yorkie that is silver( or pewter, light charcoal, whatever) all over, lighter silver on head and tan on his muzzle. He had the standard Yorkie colors when we picked him out at 6 weeks and by 11 weeks when we picked him up, he had a little white spot on his head. By the time he was about 5 months we had him clipped very short-underneath all that wirey black puppy hair was this beautiful little silver bullet! At 11 months old he weighs 9.5 lbs and is all muscle! Some yorkies just suprise you-even though we were told he was a "parti" and his dad is black and white with a little tan. :D |
As a Mom of 2 11 pounders, I think the larger ones are great. YT has a teapot club. Bubba is silver and he is very handsome. I think your baby is adorable and she looks a lot like Bubba. What are you feeding her? and what shampoo are you using? Their hair is like ours-it's appearance is poor if nutrition is poor or if we don't use products that bring out it's shine. |
I think she is adorable! |
I think she is very cute, she is a cross between my Hobbes and Calvin. Hobbes weighs 16 lbs and the sweetest hunk of LOVE their is. Looks like a Yorkie to me. |
All yorkies are different in sizes, coat texture and color. Your girl looks adorable to me. Please dont be disapointed in her looks and size she is your baby and uniquely her |
She's a "teapot" Yorkie I have a 9 almost 10 pound Yorkie here he came to me weighing over 11 pounds but have talked to others on here who have much larger Yorkies that are proven purebred...wavy hair also happens sometimes...dull coat huh she looks decent in the pic maybe she has a super conditioned cottony coat though... I used and trust this company to identify my rescue as a Schnorkie (Yorkie mini Schnauzie hybrid) my vet uses them and they are the most comprehensive for accuracy...but either or your dog is gorgeous and looks Yorkie to me. www.dog-dna.com Dull coats can often be corrected with proper nutrition and grooming! |
She's the exact same color as my Zada, waves and all and my Zada is all Yorkie. You just have a larger girl is all. ;) |
Looking at the pictures you have a yorkie. So what the ears don't stand also they come in other colors not just the black and tan and the copper colors. If you want straight hair this means you need to bathe her regulary and blow dry along with brushing the Straight hair takes work they don't come like you see in photo shoot pictures. May I ask why is his poor little head green ? |
My daughter's yorkie is very similar in coloring. When her coat was breaking we thought she was going to be white and even questioned her breading, although she is AKC registered. She is 1 now and has gotten darker as she gotten older, but is a very light silver with a light tan face. Can't quite make out what is happening with this little one's face. Did you dye her hair for some reason? Check into proper nutrition and good shampoos and grooming habits if you are worried about the quality of the coat. |
haha yes i dyed her hair to match mine (all my friends, and people on the street love it) and im just dissapointed in the size, not her coloring(i think shes very cute~!) i would of liked to carry her around in a purse lol and by fairly dull i ment its not shiney. i only dye the top of her head, it would be too exspecive if i dyed all of her!?(organic hair dye is very pricy) so i dont think its the dye thats the problom. what shampoos would you reccomend me to use? and this isnt because i dont love her(i love her to death!) i was just seeing if anyone else had a yorki like this, because ive never seen them on the street when i go to nyc or even in nj. haha and thanks for all the compliments. haha(and exscuse my spelling) |
She looks all yorkie to me! Changing her shampoo/conditioner might help her coat...but so will her diet. Not sure what you are feeding her...but premium food will go a long ways to shine up her coat too. You might check out how the food you feed her rates out of 5 stars... Yep , looks like one to me:D she's a doll! |
i feed her wellness dry food(somtimes mixed with chicken.ect) and i feed her some apple around lunch time(she LOVES fruit and veggies mostly apple though haha) i see no problom with her diet, its probs what shampoo i use for her....what do you reccomend? |
I couldn't agree more my binky was 10lbs and the biggest yorkie I ever had but also the smartest. My rescue is 3.6lbs and I'm a nervous wreck most of the time when I heard her story I didn't know she was so teenie. I had been checking rescues to find myself one that was atleast 5lbs or larger that would fit into my family sad all this teacup stuff for sure this little dog if I didn't pull her would have been dead next litter they forced her to have. P.S words of this crazy lady to me I'm sure it would be ok for her to have a few more litters akc open paperwork you name it and this little dog almost died on her 2nd litter seizures and a csection later. When I took her in for a wellness check all the girls and vets there came to give me a hug for being so brave and esp for not knocking this lady out. |
o.o oh my gosh! how could that lady be so heartless? i would never have a "teacup" yorkie give birth.... thats so crule... T.T i hope that in the near future there would be a law aginst(sp?) breeding dogs that small!!!! |
1 Attachment(s) What kind of dye are you using on your dog? Anyways I can somewhat relate I got my rescue and he was supposed to be under 10 pounds right...they lady tells me no way will he more than 12 at the most....he's 21 pounds now...but I love him just the same! I was kind of bummed I can't carry him in a carrier...but he still gets carried like a baby... Scoobers is the freakiest looking Schnorkie ever! I've seen hundreds (maybe a slight exaggeration) of Schnorkies and only have ever seen three come out looking like my Scoobers in features and size... Excuse the funky kitchen mess we're remodeling...the boy actually scared Scoobers banging and I had to carry him around for a bit... |
get her a pink dog stroller on ebay I got one for 39.99 including shipping...my binky loved her wheels. even a 3lb yorkie can get heavy carrying them in a bag at the mall my binky was big and she had a bag the only time I used it was to line up at the post office |
adorable baby you have there and I so relate to the kitchen reno's gosh it about drove me nuts when I did mine...but its so worth it when its done |
ill deff get a stroller for my bby girl xD ive been concidering getting one for a long time... |

I think she's beautiful! Why is her hair green on top? Is it the camera or did you dye it? As for the dullness, What are you feeding her? The best thing to do is give her a high quality food. I use Wellness small breed and Stella and Chewy's dry . I can't believe what a difference it makes in their coats. They are so shiney and soft and my two have cottony coats. Don't worry that she's bigger, My two were suppose to be 4 and 6 lbs. Now they're 7 and 8 lbs. |
Duh, I should have read your other posts, before I did my last one...lol I see you are feeding her a high quality food. I know that when I thought my two had dull fur..it was because I was trying out all different kinds of products. I've settled on "Bio groom" Fluffy Puppy and their Silk condtioner. I make sure to rinse out the fur really really well. Are you growing her coat long?? I also noticed that when I cut down their fur...it gave the newer healthier fur a chance to come through. Now, I can get it long again. I think the larger ones are better at tricks too..:p As for the purse dogs....my two are 7 and 8 lbs and I can't imaging carrying them in a purse....it would be so heavy :D |
She is too cute with the color on the hair! Love it! |
