There are disreputable show breeders also. Being in one group of people or another does not guarantee you are reputable. Shop for the breeder then shop for the dog. |
i payed 1000 for my silver/white/tan yorkie and she is the sweetest dog ive ever met! i dont think yorkies of a rare color should be so much more then others but its just people trying to make a living.(i didnt buy her cuz i thought she was rare, i got her because she looked normal as a puppy(black/tan) |

It's amazing how people can be friends with some of the Parti, golden, and other breeders on here, ask for their advice about Yorkie care and then bash them with generalizations saying they are unethical or un-reputable or the line they work so hard on preserving shouldn't be bred at all. When they talk about bad standard Yorkie breeders they give the reasoning like: they breed dogs too small, too young, too much, they don't do health screening, genetic testing, etc but these same people generalize for nonstandard breeders of Yorkies...'they're all bad'...it's sad people are so bias. Wonder where the Yorkie breeders who breed all colors of Yorkies fit in...? (rhetorical) |
wow I've never seen or heard of them before, thanks for posting the link |

What a beautiful baby!! |

I pay based on what the breeder does, they're mentality, care, knowledge, OFA certifications, genetic testing screening, DNA, AKC limited or full reg., feeding quality food, early training, after adoption care and support, their health certificate guarantee, sales contract...even though the aforementioned should be the standard of breeders in my opinion. |

We don't know yet. I am always looking!! :D |
I think I am going to be quite honest here. Yes there are Yorkies of all colors now. Golds, choc, platinum blonde as they say, partis in all the of mentioned colors. When you see a breeder breeding for 5 different colors what does that say? It does say to me money. Yes I have Parti color yorkies and that is what I have . I have no golds, no chocs, no parti golds or chocs and make sure my line don't have those. To me the Parti Yorkie is an thing of beauty and its getting so screwed up. Yes people did breed golds in the 1930's and were given a cease an desist by AKC to stop. But the golds are golds and in a separate catagory. It is in my interest to keep the golds separated from the the actual parti yorkie I believe in. It is MY belief that the parti color yorkie should have the tri colored head at birth mixed with a white and black spots on body. The choc can fall into this category with choc head but tan eyebrows and tan markings. If you disagree I am open to hear it ................. I just always thought the parti yorkie was a tri color yorkie... |

Hmm I'd say this too, not in disagreement but curiosity, if someone bred all Yorkies: Partis (partially colord meaning tri colored biewer etc) Standards, Goldens, Blues etc would that be bad? Not implying mixing them back and forth-I don't want people on here to freak out! ;) Isn't it the same as someone who breeds standards and has black and tans, black and silvers etc? Or is that a naive statement to make not understanding the breeder perspective on it? I mean if two standards being Parti carriers can produce Partis and also standards produce Goldens and Blues in the same way-isn't that the problem with history of them people want to say they only breed this or that and hide that others come out at all? Is that bad of someone openly breeds all of these and considers them all same and sold them all at the same price...as they are all Yorkies? Maybe this should be a different thread? |

My guess they were trying to clarify that they must actually speak to you prior to selling, i.e., they won't just communicate via email and ship a puppy. But that's just a guess on my part. |

Definitions of PARTI-COLOR: showing different colors or tints; especially: having a predominant color broken by patches of one or more other colors parti-color - make motley; color with different colors parti-colored: having different colors in different areas or patches; variegated I haven't found one that says that parti means black, tan and white or that it means more than 2 colors? The YTCA likes blue and tan, you like the tri color (black, tan, white) parti's and others may like chocolate parti's, sable gold parti's or clear gold parti's ... Are you saying that chocolate parti's are ok but gold parti's are not?? Just trying to understand the point you're trying to make? :) |
No I wasnt saying that, what I am trying to say is for anyone wanting to buy a yorkie, Do your research. I have seen that alot of breeders that have every color of yorkie for sale and are doing it for the money. Not everyone but alot. I just have a question, why does a person have and breed blondes, blonde partis , chocolates,Choc partis, reds, red and white partis, Platinum and Platinum and white partis and tri color partis all in the same house? What are they striving to produce? I think it is a fair question. What is their goal to produce? Yes I tend to be over passionate about some things but I feel if you are breeding should you have a goal? |
correction: (Shouldn't you have a goal?) |
I dont think it is that rare, but my yorkies mom is totally gold and she is beutiful and plus she won a beauty contest. My yorkie is not like that, she is more tan and gold. ;):animal36:animal36:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

If a particular color (off standard or not) doesn't pop up very often that does make it rare. If the dog is healthy and by virtue of its coloring is rare, then I think that could warrant a higher price. I wouldn't pay more, but I could see where a breeder could in all honesty say it's rare which --- like all rare thing --- to some buyers it's worth a higher price tag. |
2 Attachment(s) Just wanted to share these pics of babies and later after one of them was grown these babies belonged to my Abbey that passed 2 year ago |

Aww cute babies and the grown one is gorgeous!! |
Thank you both for taking the time to explain your perspectives on this as breeders and explain why. Really helps to get information from people who are knowledgeable and reputable in what they do. (Pine, I have the same preferences as you do not for any other reasoning other than the look) I love black button noses (why I have a true 'blond' {cutsy owner term} {aka true yellow in Germany or true white in the USA} miniature schnauzer-they are actually a black with the absence of color genetically and classification speaking-wonder why its so different between breeds-?-Breezeaway reminds me a lot of Karin Rice in their perspectives-which is a good thing). I literally know nothing about other colors besides apparently gold is an older 'off color' that came up...in standards...like Partis...wasn't sure if there was a correlation. Nice to have people share their knowledge, it is very appreciated, just reading-especially on the internet gets so conflicting and confusing sometimes, then when you add searching out an subjective idealization, it's almost impossible to get quality information to form an opinion on.
