Hinckley's trigger words are: Eat Hungry Dinner Out Cheese Treat |
LOL I love all these responses! It's good to know others talk to their dogs like me. My husband sometimes will look at me and shake his head... :) |
My husband does it too...we do the: "do you want to eat?? and they all three go nuts.... Hinckley will follow us around when it's dinner time. She knows. And if we sit down she jumps in our lap and puts her nose in our face like HELLO???? ARE YOU FORGETTING SOMETHING? too cute. |
Princess turns into a lunatic if I say "Grandma's house"....and I'm saying it to my daughter in a normal voice. She'll start going crazy jumping on and off my lap, barking, running to the door. She loves it over there, my mom has 3 little dogs & Princess is in heaven when they get to play. She also knows "This way", "No barking" (i think it's mean to tell her to shut up ;)!), along with many others. She certainly knows waaay more than I ever expected a dog to know! I'm trying to teach her more "tricks" now, we've been working on "shake" since yest. & she is already getting it! I just love this lil puppy! :D:queen3: I just wish I could teach her to really come to me when called, she will "come" if I use my manly voice ;) but it's hard to just get her to come snuggle or something when I'M requesting it. If I get up to get her she'll start looking for a toy...my dog's an ADDICT!! addicted to playing fetch, I don't even know how many hours in a day we spend playing it! :P |
I don't even want to try to count but I know they all drop what they are doing when they hear a sentence starting with "Do you want...." Their favorites and the ones all four of them understand: Night Night (Head for the bedroom) Bye Bye (Head for the car) Outside (Head for the door) Come (Head for Mommy) Quiet ( shut the H*** UP!) |
I know Bevo understands what I am trying to tell him. My husband thinks Im nuts!! So, Im so glad everyone else agrees that they understand!! He uses tee tee pads, and I can tell him to "go potty" 10 times in a row and each time he will run over to it and try to squeeze something out!! He also knows whos here and get em!! When I ask where daddy, bubba or sissy are (all people), he knows exactly which one to look at! My husband says its just luck!! :) |
Harley knows not only words but hand signals. I'm working on perfecting them myself, cause I catch myself saying things I shouldn't cause it cues him to do the wrong thing. Some words Harley knows: sit, down, come, mat (lie on your mat), house (go to your play house), go home (means run up the steps from the sidewalk and then go up to our apartment), eh ah (leave it), free, drop it, bring me toys. we're now working on "ici" means jump up into my arms and heel. He has hand signals for: down, stay, drop it, ici. we're going to do agility so I'm excited to get him to learn more. The best one of all though, is when I have him loose in the house, and I say, "it's time for bed" or "bedtime" (he sleeps in his own room). He'll run on our bed or the couch on either my lap or the bf's and lay down all pretty and smile at me. It's as if he's saying, ok mom I'm sleeping here tonight.... sadly if I try to sleep with him, he wont sleep. |

Wow, thats pretty impressive! border collies are the smartest dogs they say! hehehe! Fiona probably knows maybe the same as BB! |
I forgot.... "Last Call" They know it is their last chance to go outside to pee before we go to bed and they all scramble to make sure the get to go. |
