Irene Was not meaning to get off topic was trying to say that the breed does develop as the public wishes tiny or dolly faced or Hugh to fit the times. As long as it is done with care and consideration to health and takes into account that we are breeding a dog first meant to hunt rats into a different form and remember to look at temperament too to fit the size and what the dog is doing now as to opposed to what it did do for a job. It was here and I was trying to follow the thread and it path way did not realize that it should be stuck in a different area. Joy |
My 2 cents: The terms teacup and babydoll and all the others used to bother me. I then realized I really don't care one way or the other how folks choose to refer to their babys. They are descriptive words dealing with size and facial charateristics. What does bother me is when they are used to jack up the price on certain puppies. Most of the places on the web i have visited with "teacup" puppies are charging really high prices for them. It has become apparent to me that alot of people have keyed into the terms and used them to their own benefit. We all should know by now what a yorkshire terrier really is. If anyone wants to call their baby a doll face, teacup or whatever, I don't have a problem with it. Just don't try to sell me one because i know better. A good example of how tacking terms onto puppies original breed name's brings more money to those who don't know any better is this: A website I visited has poodle puppies for sale. Each puppy was listed with it's weight and a potential adult weight: "puppy A" : Tiny toy poodle, 10 wks., 2.3 lbs. should be around 4.5 lbs full grown. price: $800 "puppy b": Teacup poodle, 10 wks., 1.2 lb. should be around 3 lbs full grown. price: $1400 these puppies were from the same litter. Now IF the breeder's guestimate on the adult weights of the two puppies is correct, WHAT MAKES A WHOLE POUND AND A HALF WORTH AN EXTRA $600? That is the only problem i have with the terms people use. Other than that, it doesn't bother me at all anymore. :p |
