Before donating to the HSUS Before donating to the HSUS please read this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/ani...ease-read.html And consider donating to Yorkie Haven Rescue (or a local rescue) instead. |
I hate HSUS. they were the ones that did the stupid puppy mill bill in MO and so many Missourians got sucked into the lie and the horribly written bill and voted Yes and it passed, thank God that MO law makers are going to repeal all of the stupid and irrelevant parts of that bill. |
I am a big supporter of everything local I buy my food local I buy my furniture local (In Ohio local) I like to buy things from companies with factories in Ohio. and I only buy clothes and shoes made in the United States. I also will not give blood to the red cross because my county has its own blood donation group. I always feel no matter what it is you actually help more people by buying local (when possible) So It does not surprise me that a nation wide group like HSUS would leave people out. |

Thank you, it drives my friends crazy because its like "hey lets go to(insert random mass chain restaurant hear)" and my response is always "instead lets go (insert local restaurant name hear) it's owned by (insert name of sweet person who owns restaurant)and they have great service and better food. I started this because of a book my teen check out of the library the challenged kids to be more green. one suggestion was buying local because it saves gas and packaging. I'm lucky enough to be able to buy almost everything locally I feel bad for the people who cant. |
Before NOT donating to the HSUS, it may be helpful to withhold harsh judgment until reading their 2009 Annual Report: http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...ual_report.pdf |
If there weren't problems, there really wouldn't be so many investigations going on. I know we would all like to believe, but the only way to actually know and help is by donating to your local organizations. If all the local shelters and rescues had the donations that went to the "big business" organizations, there wouldn't be a need for them at all. Just a thought..and an opinion. |

Here's an interesting little something about the HSUS getting a $50,000 donation from the Philadelphia Eagles (Michael Vick's team) and Wayne Percell's (HSUS president) comment. Press Release: NYT Ad Slams HSUS Prez for Saying Michael Vick Should Be Permitted to Have More Dogs | HumaneWatch I wonder how much the Eagles gave to Best Friends, the group that actually took in Vick's dogs? |

Here is the wording from their donation form.... "Thanks to your generous support, we can continue to help dogs, cats and other animals at home and worldwide in 2008 and beyond. Your donation will be used to stop animal cruelty inflicted by individuals and institutions, to rescue and shelter animals during times of disaster, and so much more." The above from this link, which is an analysis of the HSUS 2006 income tax return. http://www.centennialsharpeiclub.org...ds%20money.pdf Given their own words, wouldn't you expect more than 2% to be used on shelters and humane societies? |
I live in a small town, with NO local, small businesses, restaurants, etc. So "chain" stuff is all I know. Donating to 'local' groups... There are none, besides church groups. I TRY to at least buy things made in the US however, I will NEVER drive, or own a government ( I'm sorry, general) motors car. It's Ford or Foriegn all the way. |
