Am I a bad mom? I decided for my sanity, the sanity of everyone coming to my house for a pampered chef party tomorrow and for the sanity and safety of both my dogs to go ahead and bring them to our favorite pet food and groomer store and let them dog sit for a couple hours. I feel awful about doing it, but they have each other to keep company and if they were in the house with the party it would be nonstop barking and pandamonium and they would be under foor in the kitchen and if kenneled would bark themselves into a frenzy and i feel like it's worse to them to know someone is here and not be able to say hello than to just be out of the home for a little bit and be safe and calm. did i do the right thing here for them because they come first. |
It's not like you're leaving them there forever. I'm sure they'll be fine. I had 29 people for Thanksgiving and Shadow was 6 mos old. We had a bunch of small kids too. I had her pen in the same room as everyone and she did well. She could see everyone and not get picked up all the time, besides not getting stepped on! Of course, never know how long that will last! You are not a bad mom!!! |
You are not a bad Mom!! They will have each other for company. You are doing the right thing. You would never forgive yourself if a door was left open and they got loose!! You are doing your best to keep them safe. That's a good Mommy!! |

Nah! Sounds good and safe to me...:D |
You did the right thing. Relax kid! |
You know your dogs then any other person. I think you ought to go with your heart on this one. If you think they would be better off being dog sat during the party and know they are safe and well cared for, then do it. If you have any doubts in your decision then perhaps something else could be looked into. If you have and family members that you trust , perhaps they could go there for a visit? I feel for you. My Suzi is a problem when company comes over. She gets way too excited and jumps all over everybody. I have to place her in the bedroom , because she is way too overwhelming. You are NOT a bad mom either! Your looking after their best interests. That makes you a wonderful , caring, doggie parent. |
Sounds to me like you are keeping them safe and thats what a good mommy does :D |
Sounds to me like you are making a GREAT decision. Better safe than sorry. And it's only for a little while. Pat yourself on the back. You're a great mommy!!! |
Excellent, safe choice. You are a wonderful mom!;) |
If I remember the story about your last party correctly, I'd say you are doing the right thing  (love the new avatar!!) |
I think it is very responsible. Not to mention safer for the pups. Having so many people in the house at once would scare me. However, having them safe at the groomers for a couple of hours seems perfectly fine. |

LOL you are not a bad mom! You would be surprised how many times my girls have gone to grandma's for a sleep over. . . |
You are not a bad mom. Everything you said clearly shows that you had their comfort and interest in the forefront of your mind. |
It sounds like you did the right thing for your pups. If you and they don't enjoy when you have people over, it is best that they are in a safe environment away from the party. |
Sounds like you are a good mom!! I think I was a bad mommy when I first got pnut! He was a pup and we would have a lot of parties at the house. Well Pnut was a little pup, and he was very cute and everyones attention! He was the little party pup.. I would always make sure he was ok, I would usually have him in his crate in the bedroom, but people always wanted to see him. He was never in danger, it was just a crazy time! He even went to hooters with me, and my dh and some friends took him to a strip club! He had a crazy pup life! |
i think you are doing the right thing!!!! The furbuts will be safer -- relax and enjoy your party. Hope you sell a lot of stuff:p |
Nope, you are not a bad Mom. Everyone will be safe and you can relax (Ha) and enjoy your party! |
they did great. The owner put them in a little kennel by his office and when DH went to pick them up they were SLEEPING :D :D :D they liked it better there than here YAY. party was great, no dogs were around to eat the chocolate and onions that fell on the floor when we were cooking in there or get stepped on or bark and they still came home in time to see the people that stayed longer to see them and do some fun tricks for the crowd. thanks guys. this is their new place to go when things get a little loud around here. |
