To those with the questions Just read on my last post how some people were questioning me about ALL my past postings...I still have my 2 yorkie girls Kai-LAN and Olivia I said I had a "puppy" and now I have none, meaning no puppy, my other 2 are ok because they are past the parvovirus stage. As far as the breeder I already reported her and is no longer on here. And to everyone else thanks for the advise and comforting words. If I am no longer welcomed on this forum let me know, I don't want negative comments on my post I'm here to make friends. |
I have questions now..... why didn't you just answer the questions on your other thread instead of making this new one? People asked there what happened to these other pups and I think you have to see why! You said you had none -- not "no more little puppies," but just NONE. I think it was natural to wonder. Nothing negative was said, the question was asked so that you had the opportunity to answer right there and clear it up days ago. You were also asked who the breeder was that sold you this puppy with parvo and did not return your calls. It is important that people know these things. Just because they are not on here now, does not mean they are not still selling to YT members, maybe even sending personal messages behind the scenes here. I don't even quite understand how your reporting her selling a dog with parvo would have resulted in her "not being here." Do you mean she was banned or did she leave on her own volition? If this breeder is selling puppies with parvo, it is a public health concern, one that you owe others a warning about. How could you keep this info to yourself and let other unsuspecting buyers go through this if parvo is really the concern? I just do not understand why you would not have answered people's questions in your other thread but start this thread saying things like "if you're not welcome, let you know." ???? What is up with that???? No one intimated that you were unwelcome on this forum -- so why say that? Could this be deflection? People were not welcoming or unwelcoming in the other thread -- they were concerned for a little puppy who died and two others we did not know what had become of. Nobody but Admin & the mods can rip the welcome mat out from under anyone anyway. I have to admit, I did have a previously unasked question, that was why did you not take the little one in to the vet sooner, instead of posting you would take him the next day if he made it through the night. That sentence just resounds in my mind and breaks my heart. I don't understand it. It sounds so cold. I am not judging you but I do not understand. I was not going to ask before, in deference to sorrow, but since you started THIS thread, I can't help but still think of that question that gnawed at me. It also makes me think of this quote: "While no extremely accurate statistics are available, a good guess is probably that 80% of puppies treated for parvovirus will live. Without treatment, probably 80% or more of the infected puppies would die." That was why so many urged you to take that helpless little puppy to the vet that night instead of just waiting to see if "he made it through the night." That is why so many felt so powerless, when you nonchalantly reported he did not make it. Knowing there could have been help, just makes my stomach turn...... I do not think people were questioning ALL of your PAST postings at all. There was a definate concern over where the other two pups had gone if you had none -- that and refusing to provide vet care for a puppy in such obvious, admitted distress, were the only PAST items brought up. Better to answer questions forthright and not wait several days and start a new thread. |
What's the big deal on a new thread? I didn't know I had to reply under the old one. And yes u r judging. I haven't been on here in several days till now that's why I hadn't answerd. |
People take an active interest and concern for any puppy in distress. People who care follow the thread, they go back to it to look for progress, news, hopefully recovery. The whole idea of a thread is to have some continuity. There is no way most of us could possibly read every thread on all of YorkieTalk's forums! But the ones that capture your heart, you look for replies. You hope someone will answer the questions that nag at you. You hope more than anything, there will be some good news! Because SOME PEOPLE CARE!!!!! That is what the big deal is! I repeat -- I am not your judge -- that will be between you and your higher power. But again, I do not understand. |
Ok so I understand the thread thing I haven't been a member for a long time so I didn't know that but now I do. Thank you for your concern. |
myyorkie 2, you haven't really answered the questions. I would really like to understand your choices. Is there a reason you don't want to name the breeder? And why would you wait to take the puppy for help when you seemed to think it might die overnight? I think you mentioned you were looking for a new puppy, but you're not going to get much help from people if they don't think you're committed to caring for another one. As I said, I would like to understand your point of view. You seem to be concerned that people have misconceptions about you, and you do have an opportunity to clear them up if you choose. |
I forgot what I had intended to say originally -- you mentioned that your dogs are past the parvo stage. I learned recently that vaccinations don't ALWAYS protect against the disease forever, and that adult dogs can get it. Also, an adult dog can be an asymptomatic carrier of the disease. Before you consider bringing another dog into your home, I hope you will have your two adult dogs tested for the virus. You can also have titres run on your dogs to make sure they still have their immunity. You could be saving yourself a lot of heartache. And as others have said, you need to do a thorough decontamination of your house and yard, and wait six months before adopting. The virus really can live that long. |
Well not bringing another dog in, it was just a thought but im not gonna take the risk. |
I can not understand and hope you can answer for me, Why you would not have a vet appmt set up for Monday or Tuesday morning if you picked the puppy up on Sunday....I am sorry but I guess I just don't get anyone that takes the time to search for the perfect puppy and pay money for it but not have it checked out asap, especially if they have other animals in the house... I am sorry, perhaps I am just strange, but before I leave to go look at a puppy, my vet has already been phoned and I have an appmt set, just in case I bring the puppy home... and then to wait as long as you did to seek help,,,, I don't get it...why....if it was a money issue, well I can kinda understand that, but why not ask for help,,, you had people willing to meet you,,, couldn't you read between the lines,,,they were worried about that baby...and was willing to help you...I now worry about the other two you have. I am sorry that you went thru this, but hope you are willing to take your part of the responsibility of the loss of this baby, because it sounds like you are already thinking of getting another one...I hope you have learned something from this before you consider getting another one... Sorry if it seems brutal but I feel it is deserving.... |
I think that's a wise decisions. I hope, too, that you will have your two dogs checked for their own well-being. I found the article where I learned more about Parvo -- here it is: Parvo FAQs I gather you're not going to answer the questions about the breeder and your choice not to get emergency treatment for the puppy. I'm sad about that because I really would like to understand. But that's your prerogative. |
I just read through all your past posts and I don't feel sorry for you AT ALL!! You shouldn't even be allowed to have pets with your cavalier attitude, the poor puppy DIED BECAUSE OF YOU and you want to know how long you have to wait before you can go get another one to torture!!! I don't think anyone was harsh enough with you. This is a wonderful place to find friends and get support but 99.9% of us on here would have driven through sleet, 10 feet of snow, climbed 10 mountains and swam in a freezing stream to TAKE OUR BABIES TO THE ER VET RIGHT AWAY!!! I, and I am sure a majority of everyone else on here, doesn't understand your lack of love and concern for that puppy and for the dogs you already have. You complain about a 5 year old dog just "sitting there" when you just rescued her and then in an other thread you asked if 5 is too old to breed??!!! Maybe you should stick with stuffed animals and find a forum where the people don't give a lick about their pets, that's where I think you will find the most friends!! |
Wow, I am just catching up on this thread, I don't post a whole lot but I read daily and first thing I am saddened by the lost of your puppy, sad to say somehow I think he is in a better place, than had he continued to stay in your care. You know I use to worry sometimes about what if my baby needs emergency medical care and I don't have any money that day, but that is no longer a concern of mine as I know if he were in distress we would surely leave here headed to the vet money or not. Having been here on YT, for a while I know that if I posted that my baby was in need and I needed some help, be it a kind word, in person hug or transportation, somebody here ANYBODY here would rally to help. Its about the love of the animal, with whom most of us never even look at the fact that they are animals, simply a family member. If your child were sick, most people jump thru hoops to take care of them, the same applies with our fur babies. My advice to you would be to not be so defensive, what has happened can not be undone, what you can do is learn from the experience and turn it around and make something good come out of this. Learn all you can about the care of an animal, volunteer at a shelter and help another animal. Walk a positive stride from here on out, and be thankful for the information provided here. :yorkiej: |

Ok, I'm done ranting now . . ..if you really have dogs, I hope to heck you seriously consider rehoming them as you seem to be an unfit parent to these little babies . . . |

I agree-- When I read your post last night I almost got ill. I wanted to say volumes to you but was too tired to compose a response. I am glad to see many others felt the way I did and are better at putting it in words. I kept checking back and back again hoping for good news.. you did not even respect us enough to give us answers to the questions YOU started. You wanted attention.... well you got it:mad: I agree.. you did nothing to prevent the death of that sweet little puppy.. it makes me sad and mad. I am so very pround of many YT members who really were going to go above and beyond to help you. It makes me cry.. but I do know now if I needed them they would be there. You have lost a lot... your puppy and the respect of the YT community -- or at least mine |

:thumbup::thumbup: I feel the same kind of outrage. |
This whole thing has gotten me sick. I don't see how anybody can sit back and watch a puppy suffer. You shouldn't be allowed to own a goldfish never mind a dog. If it were me I would have posted this breeder all over the internet. Then I would be at her doorstep and with my temper I would have done something to probably get me arrested. I also think you posted this to start a whole big thing on the forum, if not I think you are the most uncaring human being in the world. |

This is just somebody who is trying to have some "twisted" fun at the expense of others who care about Yorkies. I don't believe one letter of it. Oh, and the "judgmental" accusation? Give me a break. Anytime we (and that includes you) make an assessment as to whether something is good or bad, right or wrong, desirable or undesirable, etc., we are making a judgment. What to eat a cheeseburger or a taco for lunch? You are going to have to make a judgment! Want to make a right or a left turn? You are going to have to make a judgment! Should you adopt puppy A or puppy B? You are going to have to make a judgment! Is what I am wanting to do right or wrong? You are going to have to make a judgment! Anytime you make a decision, you are being judgmental. That is what is supposed to help us to do the right thing, the best thing, keep us from making mistakes. What someone is REALLY saying when they accuse someone of being "judgmental" is: "You are not allowed to disagree with me!" They are trying to shut down discussion regarding their own bad decisions and their own bad judgments. After all, if someone assessed the situation, and made the judgment to agree with them, they wouldn't ever accuse that person of being judgmental, would they? |
I think everyone is very upset by your lack of judgement in not taking your pet to the vet sooner. Im not judging you because you are human and we are all capable of a lack in good judgement. What you do now is important. Please dont bring any new dogs into your house for 1 year. Parvo can live on surfaces that long. Also please give the name of the breeder and do a breeder review so someone else on here doesnt make the same mistake. Best wishes |
I've got to pipe in here, I believe you're in California right? Please review your animal welfare laws, section b as quoted below: b) Except as otherwise provided in subdivision (a) or (c), every person who overdrives, overloads, drives when overloaded, overworks, tortures, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance, drink, or shelter, cruelly beats, mutilates, or cruelly kills any animal, or causes or procures any animal to be so overdriven, overloaded, driven when overloaded, overworked, tortured, tormented, deprived of necessary sustenance, drink, or shelter, or to be cruelly beaten, mutilated, or cruelly killed; and whoever, having the charge or custody of any animal, either as owner or otherwise, subjects any animal to needless suffering, or inflicts unnecessary cruelty upon the animal, or in any manner abuses any animal, or fails to provide the animal with proper food, drink, or shelter or protection from the weather, or who drives, rides, or otherwise uses the animal when unfit for labor, is for every such offence, guilty of a crime punishable as a misdemeanoror as a felony or alternatively punishable as a misdemeanor or a felony and by a fine of not more than twenty thousand dollars ($20,000). I believe that you are guilty of putting a puppy through needless suffering, Parvo is a horribly painful virus, and would have been a horrible thing to die from. By not seeking veterinary care as soon as your puppy turned to the worse you were allowing needless suffering to occur. Honestly, with the disregard you displayed for this pups well being, I believe the animals still in your custody should be turned over to a rescue before they too die of Parvo. It is possible for adult dogs to contract this disease, even if they were vaccinated from it. ref: California Penal Code: Animal Welfare Provisions |
Well, I've been reading this person's posts, since I, too, have dealt with my sick yorkie lately. I'm going to give my input, because it strikes such a chord with me and my situation.:( First, this person hasn't responded to questions asked of her on every single one of her threads. She doesn't even take the time to use complete sentences...to me it feels like she can't be bothered. Her five-year-old yorkie has been both five and six over the past four months (and not in the right order...six, then five, then six...). She was warned way back when looking for a "playmate" and ALSO a "male" that she couldn't automatically trust breeders on YT, and yet her first thread recently was how shocking it was that she couldn't. BUT, not so shocking and horrifying that she's willing to save others the same dreadful experience by naming the breeder. She has a six (or five?) year old and is asking about teeth care for the first time back in September? It seems to me she CLEARLY was asking whether she could breed her 5/6-year old, but in one of her rare responses claims she was just asking that question to figure out whether her dog was old???:thumbdown (Wants multiple yorkies, but doesn't even know their life span???) She seems to care FAR more about looks and size (not to mention acquisition of puppies) than health, care and companionship. Now, we can all only hope that she is trying to rile people up and gets some sort of twisted pleasure from being the source of so many emotional resonses (get a life, if so!). If not she is in my opinion, indeed, guilty of so many things: dishonesty? lying to get a puppy? abuse due to lack of care? asking for others to give and help but not even giving us any courtesies whatsever? ignorance? not to mention poor grammar. Zoe came to our family when we didn't even want a new dog at all, much less searched for one over YT through strangers. And STILL, we've been to the emergency vet and the vet SO MANY times over the two months, I've spent literally probably hundreds of hours researching the breed and how to make Zoe's life as healthy and happy as possible, and we've, as of today, spent WELL over $2000 trying to save this adorable baby. I've held her in my arms, loved her when she was bald, loved her with poop sticking to her bum, hand fed her most days, fed her with a syringe every hour around the clock for weeks, hand knit sweaters to try to keep her shivering, sick little body warmer...and it doesn't end there. In my opinion, that's what most of us on here, most dog lovers, and most decent human beings would have done. I'm trying not to "judge", even one who makes it so easy to do so, but I am embarassed to call you a fellow yorkie owner, and sad for the dogs in your care. I hope, if this is all real, that you have a HUGE change of heart. I get the same sick feeling when I read about child abuse of infants. How in the WORLD can a person hold a tiny puppy (or a large dog for that matter) or a baby and not do EVERYTHING in their power to protect and care for that baby??? |

Ah, I wasn't sure if she had ever responded. I remember someone offering to meet her to help get the poor pup to a vet and to help her figure out how to pay (care plan, etc) but couldn't remember which Lakewood they decided she was from. Either way, I think this falls into the category of abuse with any state animal welfare protection laws. |

:yeahthat:I agree totally To the OP I would like to know..how the hell you could go to bed and SLEEP while that sweet baby was fighting for his life? I don't understand  would you tell your skin child that is running a fever of 102 "honey I'm going to bed now I'll take you to the Dr. in the morning IF YOU MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT." You don't deserve another puppy or the 2 that you have!!!! |
Yes. She would tell a child exactly that. I have always believed that if anyone abuses an animal, they would abuse anything or anyone. I cannot for the life of me understand how people can be that uncaring and sit by while something so helpless as a puppy suffers. If this is just a hoax or not to even suggest something like this happened I hope God in His wisdom and understanding grants you what you deserve. |

I usually stay out of things like this, BUT I agree with what the above say's. AND if I could say what I really think I may be just kicked off this group. I don't want that to happen as I like this group and the great people here. |
