Mia Update. Had Mia back at the vet today again for another follow up. He put her back on antibiotics and if no further improvement in two weeks he is going to refer her to a pulmonary doctor at the University of Penn. He equivilates her to like a human premie because she is so tiny. He feels this is why she is not fighting off the respiratory problem, but is happy that she has gained weight and is playful and eating. Please keep Mia in your prayers. |
That's a positive, she's gained weight, eating & playing. Praying for little Mia's recovery. |
Praying for Mia.....the Tiny ones are nerve wracking aren't they? |
I am glad Mia is gaining weight and playful Hopefully as she gets a little stronger she will be able to fight off the infection. |
Sending hugs to you and Mia |
Keeping Mia in our thoughts and prayers...and sending you hugs :D |
Keeping little Mia in my thoughts and prayers!! Glad to hear she is gaining weight....thanks for the update on her...:D |
Sending prayers for your little Mia. I hope the antibiotics work. |
I will say a prayer for your little Mia. She has had such a rough start and you are a good Mommy for getting her all the care she needs. I just know your gonna see some improvement in her health sone. |
As I stated in your other thread, when a pup, especially a tiny gets vaccinated, it totally takes over their immune system, leaving nothing behind to fight off other infections, and will take 2-4 weeks before it disengages the immune system and allows it to return to normal, where it will begin again to fight off the illness. This is 'why' sick pups and dogs should never be vaccinated until they are in the clear. Also, the antibodies her immune system produced to fight off the illness could have killed off some of the vaccines she got and her body was not able to respond to the vaccines as expected, leaving her with a low level of protection. You may want to discuss revaccinating her when she is better with your vet. If this is the same vet that gave her the vaccines in the first place, I would strongly suggest finding a new vet, one that has more experience with vaccines and very small dogs. JMHO. I will pray that she makes a speedy recovery.... |
Sending prayers and hugs for you both, Elaine. |

Elaine what is done is done dont blame yourself because it may not even be the reason Mia is ill now and its not productive. Just think positively and pray for a good outcome and know others are praying with you and sending positive thoughts |
