Night before last I let the crew out to potty in 9 degree weather...Brrrr! Well. I either went temporarily blind, or dyslexia reared it's ugly head, and I miscounted their return (how can one screw up 4 (four)!).
Back in the house I'm only seeing 3. Oh no! Panic sets in... can't find 14 year old Peek a Boo, I'm thinking , too, that I don't have a whole lot of time to find him before he freezes to death! So frantically DH and I begin searching outside... looking behind, under and all around all the plants I had put in 3 years earlier. After we covered the yard, we came back in the house to warm up, as we don't own jackets that will keep one warm in 9 degree F temperatures, as it hardly ever gets quite that cold here.
Inside, I decide to do another head count... 3. Not good. DH was in the bedroom looking for Peek and thought he saw him. (Peek a Boo and Sapphire look almost identical) so he hollers to me, 'Is this him, is it him, is this Peek?' I still can't see bc DH is now stuck on the floor but I catch a glimpse and yes, it was Peek a Boo, I think, so I ran to the living room to do another head count and yay! I counted 3.
And just a quick note: As dogs get older, they sleep alot more soundly. It has taken me more than 30 minutes of calling for Peek to wake him up and have him appear from under the bed, his fav spot to nap. He has also gotten stuck in places and has fallen asleep until I find him and help him out. :D |
