This is weird I completely forgot about this until this morning. Yesterday I picked Brielle from her spay and everything went great. When the tech was giving me post op instructions she also gave me a vile with Brielle's 2 teeth that were extracted. Do you think that's weird? Was anyone else given their babies teeth? |
I guess that is the way they do things. I have little pill containers with all my girls' teeth that were taken out. |

Sometimes teeth are given to owners as proof of the work done... |
We got the teeth; that didn't strike me as strange; however, my DH's insistence on keeping them is sorta weird!:D I actually considered having a lucite key chain made with them for him or earrings for me. Earrings would be very weird, and I think they are too fragile for that. Here comes the really strange part. We opened the vial and let Dinky sniff them (it's been over 2 months),and Dinky was nuts to get at them. We put them away, but for 20 minutes he sniffed around in that room for them. What was that? I think it had to be intense doggy smell? the smell of marrow. We can only guess. Dinky's not talking! |

For Bandit (not great vet) no. For Nala (our current amazing vet) yes. I know I saved them but I'm not sure where I put them... I should probably find them so they don't pop up in an embarassing place when people are over. Imagine trying to explain that one:p:eek: |
Rio had her baby teeth pulled during her spay but our vet didn't give me her teeth. Bullet had his baby teeth pulled during his neuter and our SAME vet gave me his teeth. I don't know why she didn't give me Rio's teeth, but didn't bother to ask. I actually kept a few of Rio's baby teeth that fell out on their own... Weird, maybe. Do I care what other people think, no way! ;) |
Ok so it's not weird. Makes sense that they give them as proof work was done or as a keepsake. Funny thing is I keep looking at them.lol |
My vet didn't give me Bubba or Sissy's teeth but I do have all three of my childrens' teeth.:D |

Maybe he gave them back to you to put under her pillow, so the Yorkie Fairy would leave her some treats!:D |

Zhoie had 13 done with her spay & umb. hernia, and I didn't get the teeth back. My guess is, he was too busy working on the little butsy to even think about it. |

Vet actually wanted to wait for her spay until 7-8 mos, but at 6.5, when we saw all those teeth, he said, oh no, that has to be causing her pain, gotta come out. We went ahead with all 3 procedures and she did really well. So, glad little Brielle is doing fine. She's sure is a gorgeous little girlie! |
The vet gave me Sammy's teeth too after extractions. She also gave me a piece of something that was removed during his stomach surgery. It looked like a piece of plastic, like the wheel of a toy car. Every toy car went into the garbage after that!! The kids weren't too happy but I didn't care. I still have my kids' baby teeth and they are 23 and almost 19. When I graduated from dental assistant school, my Dad had a jeweler put one of my baby teeth on a charm for me to wear. |
Hmmm...I hope it's not weird as I saved my pup's baby teeth when they fell out. I saved my childrens' baby teeth too. Our pups do NOT like the floor to be wiped, so if we have a dry rag and are wiping the hard wood floors they come running up and attack the rag, thus their loose baby teeth would come out. Vet told me tug of war was the best tooth extractor (for our one pup who was slow to lose her teeth) |
