| How many of your dogs go for daily walks? Generally speaking, Jackson is walked 5 days a week. He gets a good one hour walk per day. I am a dogwalker and currently have 2 dogs that live in the same neighborhood that I bring Jackson with me to... so he gets 30 minutes around the large pond with the Rottweiler and 30 minutes around the neighborhood with the Black Lab. An hour walk really tires him out, plus I walk pretty fast-paced. Before I started walking these dogs, I would have to drive Jackson up the street to a neighborhood for 'proper' walks as we live on 3 acres. How often and for how long are your dogs walked?

| Weather permitting, Max and Teddy walk a mile in the morning and a mile in the evening. If the weather is perfect, they get a third mile in the afternoon. We walk fast too. This winter has been rough. We missed a few days because of high winds, and we often had to make due with one outing a day. On weekends, we drive somewhere to go for longer, special walks. Today we went to the "downtown" area of our little crossroads and walked around the school fields and courthouse.

| Wow, you do way better than me! I think I would do longer walks if I was in a neighborhood, where I could just walk out my door and have sidewalks, etc.

| In good weather, we usually do a couple of miles a day. But, this winter has been hard. I think they have only gotten out twice this week; but it's been in the 20's with wind chill making it even colder.

| Piper has a daily 3 mile walk weather permitting. This week we got 22 inches of snow and it's been really cold so she hasn't been walked. We have been playing lots of ball in the house. Piper never gets tired playing ball.

| We do have more of a neighborhood in terms of more houses closer together, but no sidewalks. We walk in the street. That part is a bummer, but I don't have to worry about anyone being angry about my dogs doing their business on their lawn.

| Also Brit, my boys don't get the trips to the dog park or running free in the yard like Jackson does at your dad's house and your other relatives' homes.

| My husband walks the pack in the morning (about 20 mins) and we walk together when I get home from work also about 20 to 30 mins. I let them out in the back yard when I get up and before I go to bed. The walk is social as well as exercise - smelling the newspaper as my sister-in-law would say. I live in miami in a neighborhood that has side walks and lots of families-- so it is very nice. Of course I have to be sure to have "poop bags"

Thor's Human Donating Member | I try to walk Thor every day, which translates to 4-7 days/week, depending. If he has another activity during the day, like doggy daycare, I walk him for 30 minutes, otherwise, we do an hour. We're pretty slow. I let him sniff and mark everything.

| Rio and Bullet go on daily walks, but only for about 20 minutes. If it's raining or too cold, then they just chase each other around the house for their cardio workout!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I think everyone needs to take their environment into account and be flexible with exercise Personally I find the winter most challenging for my Beasties. Bitter cold and RAzz needs to be carried pretty soon, but my BRT';s think it's nirvana. But all have to have paws checked, ice balls removed etc after a good romp in the snow; even if that romp is in our backyard! Swimming in indoor pools we do, about once or twice a week. It is approx a 3 for 1 exercise. That being 10 minutes of swimming roughly equal to 30 minutes of walking. Playing inside the house, tricks and training also counts. Some can do modified agility exercises in the house. Stair climbing is good for both you and your dog Many ways to get exercise in the bad and cold days of winter

| In the winter, we walk a little over two miles everyday. If it's too cold, we don't go. There have been a few days lately, when it was way too cold to go. In the warmer weather, we usually go twice a day on weekends, because the days are longer. She goes out into her fenced yard a lot.

| Sophie Kate gets two 30 minute walks a day, per the Dr's orders for her CT (but no more because of her LP). I like taking her for walks, it is a great bonding time for her and I.

| Ivan and Iris get two walks every day for about 20-30 minutes each time. Plus Ivan gets two more potty breaks besides that. If it's raining, then the walks are just to do "business" and Iris usually won't go but we have pretty mild weather year round so we are lucky. On weekends, they both go on a third walk for about 20 minutes or so. We also try to get to the dog park once or twice a week but it is usually less than that. The park is instead of one of the walks when we go. They go on errends with us pretty often too and get to walk around at the mall or the pet store. Our two really need the exercise as well as the social interaction and mental stimulation of getting out of the house. |
