What a jerk!! I'm glad you told him off and I'm glad the other people came to help you. Thank goodness you and your babies are alright. Some people have the "not my dog" mentality....so they think they don't have to follow the rules. It's a shame a few idiots ruin things for everyone else! |
Sorry this happened to you, but glad you and the pups are alright. Similar thing happened just today, I was walking Rizzo out in the park that I go to when weather permits (where a leash law exists) when a big dog comes running up to us. I picked up Rizzo and started walking away since I couldn't find the big dogs owner. He starts to follow us?? Finally his owner realizes that her dog wandered off, and I'm feeling a bit distressed. The dog does seem friendly and not interested in eating Rizzo, but Rizz hates being crowded by huge dogs and sometimes bites at them. The big dog owner yells out "don't worry, he's friendly" as if that excuses him not being on a leash and harassing any passersbyers. It is incredibly irritating having to deal with people that can't follow a single rule, keep your pet on a leash! What's even more irritating is there is an OFF LEASH dog park not 40 feet from where she was plopped down at. |

Wow....you are a lot better than I would have been, my first reaction would have been to swing at her, it would have been a reflex, as I would have felt threatened. My baby is always in my shoulder carrier when we are out in public because he goes just about everywhere with me. People always stop me everywhere we go and want to pet Gizmo and each and every time they have always asked me first before approaching my dog. If this person had tried to grab Gizmo, he would have bitten her for sure because he would have felt threatened for the both of us. Gizmo hates the leash, something I failed to train him on in the early years, he is 4 yrs old now, and I am working on it now as it would have been helpful when we traveled out of town. I have never seen the need for it until now because I live out in the country and our walks are side by side down my dirt road along with my chow chow pepper. Gizmo likes to take his morning poop in front o my neighbors mail box everyday, its so funny, (don't worry, my neighbor and I have discussed this and I always pick up behind my baby). Believe me that was a real jerk. If the dog had bitten you, you could have had yourself a good law suit and he wouldn't have a leg to stand on. I just can't believe people are so stupid. We have a couple of big dogs around where we live and I've seen them off their leash. This is why my babies play in their own yard PS If you watch the court shows the way I do you will know you are not alone in your feeling. As a matter of fact I'm watching Swift Justice with Nancy Grace and they have just such a case as I post this. |
Thanks everyone...I wasn't discouraged. I went to another park yesterday with them in the stroller. They did well. I don't think they were the least bit traumatized from the day before :) I love to take them out. Even a change of scenery gives them enough stimulation to have them zonked for the night. They came home yesterday, had baths and I didn't hear a peep for the rest of the evening. |
Maybe that stroller is not strong enough - I don't trust it since it can tip over like that. If it was a baby stroller you could have sued the company! I'm glad they didn't get hurt, but still, that doesn't sound right. |
oh... what a bad experence!! I am glad someone was there to help and everyone is ok. I have been thinking of getting pepper spray (I bought some when my girls moved out... for a different type of dog) |
