So glad your both OK!!!! Please don't be so hard on yourself, it was a accident. I hope you have a better day! :) :) |
I'm glad both of you are okay. I learned my lesson too. Im re-thinking if i should take my furbabies for a ride with me without a car seat. The other day I was on a freeway going 65mph. KC drop his toys underneath the passanger seat. Wasn't thinking , thought my arms was long enough and be quick with it. I reach over to get his toys. My shoulder hit the shift gear and move it to neutron, good thing it stopped there . I could've been worse if it stop on reverse. My car would have been going backward. Its a scary thought. |
driving Glad you're okay. It is also possible for the dog to hit the shifter and throw you into neutral if he is trying to get into your lap. This is why I don't allow Bailey to sit in my lap anymore. He is big and I'm sure he could do it. Even a small dog could hit your stearing wheel or inhibit your ability to turn it. Thanks for helping spread the awareness. You've really turned something bad into something worthwhile. |
Accidents happen, that is why they are called accidents... none the less I hope everyone is okay. Cars can be fixed... |
It's okay gal....let it go. I'm sure you know to pay attention the next time. Don't let it discourage you from driving safely with your precious little one. And I've been in the "mother" of all accidents. 2 days after Christmas in 2002 I was involved in a 77 car accident here in Houston. It was due to the fog and it was the worst thing (other than losing Coty) that has happened to me. I have 2 titanium permanent plates in my left arm, I broke 3 teeth, had a concussion, bruises that lasted for months and lost my hearing for about a month. It was on the news locally and on CNN, NBC, etc. You would not even believe what was left of my car -- basically just my plates that say "GOD FST". That's what got the news crews interested. I saved those plates and then had them done again for my new car. I was so glad that my son or dogs weren't in the car with me. |
tartisst:OMG.... I'd rememebered that night. I wasnt involve in the accident but i was stuck on the freeway for hours. I'm so glad you make it alive, it was horrible tragic. |
Glad you're okay! And obviously you're responsible enough to try to fix the problem.. don't beat yourself up, though :). Also, I happened to look at your profile. Oddly enough, I believe we live in the same town! And we're right about the same age, too. I tried to message you, but it wouldn't let me.. anyway, if you feel like messaging me, I'd love to hear from you! |
AWW Thats sad. Im so glad you are both ok. I know when I drive Im always looking over at my babies. Bad Habit. |
I'm happy to hear you are okay. I too have almost wrecked because I was tending to Maggie. She has a carseat and I use a baby-check mirror to keep tabs on her. I finally purchased a console pet carrier, so she would be right beside me, and I wouldn't have to look in the backseat all the time. These little "Kids" love to go. You might try the carseat up front, or if you have a console, then the console carrier is great too. |
Im so glad that noneone got hurt. It was accident so no beat yuourself over it. It took guts to come here and take responsibility. Maybe you can get a car seat for your pup or a crate. |

The kids and I were in a car accident 2 years ago....I turned in front of a car that was going 65 miles an hour...sent 8 of us to the hospital....including my 2 children..My daughter and I thought my son died....(lucky he was just in shock) but as far as beating yourself up about this accident....i can't tell you how many "would have" "could haves" and "should haves" that have gone through my mind since then...but I have learned that its too late for all of those -------haves and just chuck it up to bad timing and a good lesson learned....we all need those once in a while....I hope everyone is ok and not to horribly sore tomorrow.....give your self a break now and don't worry about tomorrow |
Just wanted to say, yea it sux, BUT it could have happened to any one of us. It was a accident. I have a pet seat that mine ride in, they love it. Maybe get her a pet seat and you will know she is safe and I bet she will enjoy it! Angie |
Accidents do happened but the safest mode for your little one is just like a child. Put them in the backseat (the airbag will kill them) in a harness. People laugh at me all time as they look over and they see 8 or more dogs sitting in their snoozer seats (puts them at window level so they can look out) and they are all harnessed in. If your dog is loose in the car and someone hits you the odds go down that they will survive or if they do and the door of the car opens they could get out into traffic. As I believe my little ones are my kids, safety in the car is important. |
Well the important thing is that no one was hurt!!! And don't be so hard on yourself! it could've happened to any of us! i know i'm guilty of watchin my babies instead of whats in front of me sometimes~ |
