Puppy Yorkie's hair different then my other yorkie? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I have a 2 year old male Yorkie, and just adopted a little girl yorkie who now is about 15 weeks old. My male's name is Thor, and my females name is Abbie. Thor's hair is drastically different then Thor's ever was. The texture is completely different...Thor's was always silky and as he got older always was silky and smooth. Abbie, as I joke, looks 'homeless', haha. Her hair is all crazy, and the base of her hair close to her body is like grey and the tips are black, but the grey is almost like fur and is all tangled and matted. I try brushing her as often as I can, and after I brush her her hair looks better, but after a few wrestling matches with Thor, her hair is back to being crazy. Is the matted undercoat normal? What can I do for her hair to be nice and silky like Thor's?!?

Welcome to YorkieTalk!! Abbie may have a coat that's softer and less silky than Thor or it may just be her age. Puppy coats do tend to mat easily. Other's will have more advice but really they are both adorable!

I have three Yorkies and all have completely different coats. I love the variety.
