Have you tried to share folk and plate with ur cutie? its not too bad, rite? |
Most people food is off limits for yorkies. Too high in fat and other bad stuff. That being said, I have fed both of mine from a spoon when they wouldn't eat any other way. DH thought I was nuts, but it worked. |
Mine eat lots of human food...veggies and fruit, cottage cheese, eggs, chicken, noodles, rice...Becca and kate eat banana;s all the time...but they also eat dog foodo just as well..not picky. |
I was told quote "NO NO NOOOOOOOOOO"... i am a new mommy, so i normally give my baby whatever she wants as long as is not something that's is gonna harm her... i would recommend reading about what foods are not good for your puppy and get informed about what's the right human food to give them... that way you can spoile them but make sure their health is in check... just a thought... :) |
My dogs also eat people food but they also eat their own food also. They love chicken and turkey. They also get ham once in awhile. My shorkie and my yorkie love vanilla ice cream so we buy them vanilla cups. |
As long as I am not eating something harmful to the dogs, they always seem to get a bite- sometimes they get it off the fork  |
I just want to state that my friend who fed her dog people food, which she normally would get a bite of (so it was not a new thing), on Thanksgiving. The dog got pancreatitis and DIED. The vet said it was 100% the people food that she fed the dog, dogs are not supposed to eat a lot of the foods that we eat. So pick your choices wisely! |

Some may say they do this all the time, but it only takes one too many times, and pancreatitis shows its ugly head. I know this all too well as I can eat some things occasionally and then all of a sudden -- WHAM, I am sick as can be on the same food! I have chronic pancreatitis and I can tell you it is one miserable and VERY painful disease. I would not want my yorkies to have to suffer through it. So -- be careful and think about those Frosty Paws desserts made for pups. :) BTW my first bout with pancreatitis was triggered by an Easter meal of ham along with a slice of pecan pie. I tend to be very leery of both now. |
Huh define people food...mine eat meat (not red meat or pork) vegis and fruit except grapes and raisins, no grains-Dad gets busted for sneaking bread...otherwise uh no...fried foods, processed foods and dairy are not natural to dogs. I wish I could say my children ate as well as my dogs...stinking drive throughs and pizza...not to mention those school lunches... |
It's not bad if it's done right. When giving meat or poultry, be very careful with fat content. Some should be skipped altogether. Some pups are lactose intolerant and some aren't. So ice cream with set better for some. Unless you are a really healthy eater, food from your plate probably isn't a good idea. Just depends on what you're eating. I can't agree when people say they are totally opposed to giving people food b/c my girl may not be alive today without it. She just can't handle dog food. It is very easy to trigger pancreatitis and all of the foods that do trigger it are not known, so it is important to be very careful. |

I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now, thanks for reminding me. I have 2 of the Frosty Paws cups sitting in the freezer. Is it OK for a Yorkie to have a whole one, or should I just spoon some out for Beamer and Lil Bit. (The dachsies used to eat a whole one, but they were bigger than the Yorkies) |
Ellie had a Frosty Paw once. Don't remember how much she had. She threw up all evening. Thinking it was her first ever episode of pancreatitis. I thought they were cute. Ingredients are yucky. Purina product. She did better with regular ice cream. Now she gets none of it. I'd say if you are going to give Frosty Paws, don't give the whole thing. |
Depending on what we have for dinner ~ I might let Lucy or Ringo lick my plate before I put it in the dishwasher. (Sshhhh) Don't tell my germ obsessed family! |
