Oh Poo! Roxie likes to walk around for a while before she is "moved" (so to speak) to go poo. It takes her FOREVER sometimes. It is freezing outside, as we're awaiting a big blizzard, and it took her 20 minutes just now to finally go. I was a popsicle! Is there any way to get her to do her business quicker? We went through this last year and it was miserable...especially in the really cold or snowy weather. :snow: |
Exercise is the only thing that can do that - like a walk.:D |
Check out this video from Mike in Alaska :D: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3159962-post2.html |
Oh my....I feel your pain!! Snickers used to be the same way when he was younger, now he is pretty much on schedule and thankfully he only poops once a day!!! Snick HATES the cold now, so does his business super quick but we do a few things to motivate him. He knows the word "POOP" and this helps alot. When we say "potty"-he knows to pee, when we say "poop" he knows to poop:). After ROXIE goes tell her GOOD POOP!!!! Also, walk her around the same area...and let her sniff some of her other poops and that should give her the urge too. We do ALWAYS have some poop accidents inside the house every winter!!!!! Good luck- Snick & Viv |
omg morgan is the same way except she doesn't take as long as roxie. I have a screened in patio that i have to go through to let morgan out in the backyard. So while she's sniffing and walking around, i'm freezing my butt off. she doesn't seem to mind the cold. I'm yelling from the door "go potty!!!" "hurry up" "poop" and she's moseying around, taking her time. man i wish the patio was enclosed so she could take all the time she wanted outside and i would still be warm while watching her. |

LOL Mine do the same thing. They walk in circles and keep doing that until they find just the perfect spot. I do have one that will poop when I tell her to go poop. I said that to her one time as we were going out the door and she stopped and pooped right there. I guess that was my fault for her telling her to poop before we got out the door. LOL |

Love the video! |
Yep - I think Eddie is the record holder. LOL |
Poop treat This sounds very weird but here it is.. Calleigh was a poop eater when she was a pup. I tried everything to get her to stop. I would give her a treat when she didn't eat the poop. Now she never eats her poop. When we are outdoors, I'll ask her to go poop. If she is taking her old sweet time, I will say "go poop and you can have your poop treat." It works most of the time. :) Good luck. :) |

Toby takes FOREVER to go poop! It doesn't matter how cold it is outside. He will walk the fence line and turn circles in different spots. I have never had a dog that takes this long to go poop. We are used to Speedy (his big sister, not a yorkie) who poops on the run. It is so funny........she will be running around the yard and poop on the run. Once she realizes she really needs to go, she stops to finish her business. It's hilarious to watch. |

Have you thought of this I just saw the new price and the TV commercial ad for them I wonder since they are all antimicrobial now if #2 is okay on them?... https://pottypatch.com To be honest though Scoobers is the same way-he goes out in the back yard himself though so...I'm also in Cali so ye...50 degrees is freezing to me! |
I just thought of something-ugh icky but dog ppl understand-I just switched to Taste of the Wild instead of Innova because I wanted to go grainless. Grainless kibble makes a big difference-not sure your issue is food based as much as behavioral maybe though-but I have again ugh-thankfully you are all dog ppl so you'll understand-I have (unfortunately) noticed pooh here seems to be more moist than usual-not watery or concerning but moist. Also I feed my dogs (among many other RAW WHOLE fruits and vegis.) apples...try it-not the seeds or core just little treat sized bits evenly spread out after meal times (kibble). Personally here for Princess and Scoobers, kibble is breakfast and dinner are kibble and lunch is RAW fruits and vegis from my hand. Treats are for training which is after breakfast and dinner just before walking-ironically they usually potty just before or during walking definitely after if they haven't by then. |
