Lowest temperature you let your Yorkie(s) go outside? I let Onyx go potty outside as long as it's above the 30's. I have potty pads inside my apartment, and he used to use them, but recently he has preferred to go outside, and will wait until I take him out. I live most of the year in North Florida, but am currently visiting relatives in Georgia so it's been quite cold for him. |
Mine go on potty pads most of the time regardless of temperature. I don't really have a temperature that I dont let them go out- once I need a sweater, I figure they need a sweater- once I need a winter coat, I assume they need a coat. If I can't stand to be outside more than a few seconds- then the same for them. They never, ever get put outside without me, no matter the temperature, anyway. So if its really cold, we just run in and out FAST! :animal-pa |
We go out even in the teens. It depends if the wind is blowing hard or not though. They get used to the climate they live in. |

Potty pads for us ~ most of the time. Bailee doesn't like sweaters and doesn't like the cold. So, he has been in the house for several weeks ~ except for rides in a warm car. :) |
Live in Chicago and 30 is considered a warm day! Carlo and Maxine like to lay out in the sun on those days. We just bundle her up in a sweater and Coat, she goes out with one of us, and never had a problem in almost 14 years. They are resilant little dogs. Just got to make sure her paws do not freeze in place. In the high 20's now with plenty of snow and Ice on the ground! Lovely day! Guess it could be worse, could be living in Canada or Greenland! Any YT members in Iceland, Greenland or Finland? |
I have a customer in Alaska who won't go outside when it's colder than -30:eek: |
Levi hates potty pads, so we go outside even when it is COLD. He will use the pads in an emergency if he is alone at my house, but if I am there he whines and whines by the door to go potty. If it is super cold, I just bundle him up in a sweater and a coat and out we go. The cold seems to bother me much more than it bothers him! It's been in the low 30s and he still wants to run and play outside. |

Oh! Late last night she wanted out. I took her out in the garage and told her to go on her pads. She looked disappointed and slowly walked around to them.:) |

Same here, he perks up when he hears "potty time" "puppy walk", and will take his time sniffing every patch of grass or tree before he decides which one to pee on. |
I have doggie doors, they go out in blizzards. They just pee fast. :D However they do have more accidents in the house when it is raining or really cold. |
