I have used the wooden pin around the face around the mustache area. I'd be afraid to use the steal pin, the brush I have is too big, and could get him in the eye. I think wide tooth metal combs work great around the face. One side of my comb has wide teeth and I finish off with the narrow side.

Like I said, in another thread I started, Jackson has short hair all the time pretty much. This is for his tail and face/mustache most of all.... so I really don't wanna spend big bucks for a brush for him, since in general his hair is pretty low maintenance.
The little balls at the tips of the pins of brushes like that one rip and damage the hair. I would be too nervous using any kind of brush on the face. Combs are easier and safer for me around the eyes.

Yes...the mini does have free shipping, but the small size from Amazon doesn't have free shipping (looks like it ships from another vendor).

And...it is the small size you would want over the mini. I read the review and realized I had posted a link to the mini size first and it does sound too tiny, especially for a human.

I'll keep looking for a better deal though.

After posting this last night, I got out my grooming caddy.....I use the Ambassador olivewood brush more than I do the CC brush. I hadn't really thought much about which brush I normally use, just always grabbing the same one and it is the Ambassador.

Think I might order that mini brush though to use for their facial hair.

Ha ha, the mini size wouldn't be that bad for Joey, I have a small one now, and he could even go down a size, but I prefer the small over the mini. Thanks for clearing it up, I wouldn't have thought about the sizes differences.

How do you clean your CC wooden pin brushes? I clean everything else with shampoo and water, but I am worried about ruining the pad on the wooden brush.

That is because it isn't actually shipped by Amazon, it is from the supplier (Faller). The other one is eligible for free shipping if your order totals $25.

I try to order only things that are directly from Amazon so I can get the free shipping.

I've always used the smaller brushes, the larger ones are sometimes near as big as Ruby. The CC pin brush I do use most is the pocket size, it's even smaller than the Ambassador small size. The smaller sizes fit my hands better and I don't really need anything very big to get the job done.

Before this, I didn't realize they offered the mini size. I am going to order the mini size to use on Reno's facial hair.

Ok, am I understanding this right. It is better to have the wood pins instead of the steel? Is that right?

Actually the steel works great on a long coat, I was very happy with it. I heard about the wooden pin brush from a friend whose dog had a cotton coat and had more problems with tangles and mats. She raved about the brush saying that it took mats right out with no problems. I didn't have that much of a problem, but when we had Joey's hair cut, and left the body short and legs long, I felt like the legs had more tender skin and the wooden pin brush might be safer. The wooden pins just don't ever scratch the skin, yet effectively separate any tangles without pulling.

I LOVE my Madan brush and Mimimomo is great (her site is below)!

You wouldn't want to use the brush around the face. I'd recommend the Madan mustache comb (which is only 8 bucks or so). I'd also recommend the grooming comb for the body, but really the brush and the mustache comb are the big needs imo.

I didn't think they were too expensive and they work FANTASTIC. I definitely highly recommend Mimimomo and her Madan supplies!

I emailed Mimimomo from her website. She answered my questions and recommended a brush and comb for Rosie. I am going to place my order. She is very helpful!!!
