Just Neutered, HELP! 1 Attachment(s) ok, so my little fur baby just got neutered. He hates the cone around his head. Its like he is disable when he has it on him. He cant do anything when he has it on Eat,Sleep, potty, lay or even walk. He cried all last night when I put it on, so I took it off and put him in the bed with me. Then this morning I caught him licking it, so I put the cone back on. He looks very upset. What should I do??? Any alternative? Also...I dont know if this is normal but his little Pee pee is umm sticking out. Attached is a picture of him not looking very happy. :( |
Oh the poor little guy. When Scooter had a problem with his butt and had to wear a cone I got him a wonderful cone from Mom to Hot Rod on this board. It's soft and totally wearable plus they look so cute in them. Just pm Mom to Hot Rod and she can tell you about it. Good luck to your baby. Can't help you with his pee pee situation tho. |
I am not looking to buy another one. Plus by the time it gets in he wont have to wear his cone anymore. How long do they need to wear it for? Someone please help with me this, I hate seeing my baby unhappy and suffering because of it. :( |
I went to the second hand store and picked up a newborn onesie for a baby. It cost me a dollar and was so much nicer then a cone. Good luck - I know how frustrating it is and it seems like it will last forever - but it doesn't!:) |

I used onesies. They worked great. |
He's hoping somebody will notice how pathetic he is making himself look and give in. The more you take it off, the more he will probably act like that. If he really can't eat well with it on, just take it off for meals only and closely supervise. A onesie is fine if you want to use it instead, but because it rubs on the incision it is always best to ask the your vet first. |
Zach just got neutered on Saturday and he looked like your fur baby the first day. I didn't put a cone on him. I just watched him closley and when he started licking the incision I said no and pulled his head away from it. After a few times he stopped. I keep checking the incision to make sure that everything is okay. He will get back to normal soon enough. Some dogs take a little longer. Zach was good the next day. As a matter of fact, everything the vet told me to do, Zach did the opposite. Just make sure there is no swelling or nothing oozing from the site. I would leave the cone off him and just keep checking him. This will make him much happier |

1 Attachment(s) The onsie worked for me too, but I have girls. It's a one piece t-shirt for babies. I found them at a thrift shop for $.50-$1. I cut a hole for her tail. It covers the wound, but you have to unsnap it to take them potty. Here is Tia when she had her little surgery in September. |
I used the onesies for both Bubba and Sissy. They did really well with them and as others have said I picked them up at the thrift shop. If he is really tiny you might want to try a stretchy sock or a stretchy shirt sleeve. with 4 leg holes cut in it |
Awwwww.... He Is Absolutely ADORABLE!!!! :) When I picked Riley up, last month from his neuter, my Vet told me: He can eat, drink, pee, poop, and do everything he did before with the e-collar on....and don't let him make you think he can't...... Luckily I only had to use it for a few days.......about a week after his neuter. I was using a baby onsie but he slipped out of it while i was at work and was licking once it was starting to heal and the hair was growing back. Best of luck!! :) |
WHERE can I get a onsie from?? Can I get it from the Pet store?? |
Just keep a close eye on him and if he trys to lick just keep moving his head away. after a while he will probably stop. Check the incision frequently. Onsie's work great.. |
