We get so many new members each day, and many have a hard time learning how to use the forum and feeling welcome. 4doggiemama has been absent for a couple of months, due to computer problems, and I know this has left a big hole in Yorkietalk. Joanne greeted new members and answered their questions, and helped point them to other members who could help. I would like to start a new club, whose members could dedicate a few minutes a day, to greeting new members. It would be a place where we could talk of what types of problems new members were having using the forum, and how we could make them feel more of a part of Yorkietalk. If you are interested in welcoming newbie's, please join Yorkietalk's newest club the YT Welcome Wagon! It going to take at least 20 of us to do what Joanne did all by herself. Welcome Waggin'

I just signed up to help out and think this is a great idea. It would be great to have a group of members that could help make new members feel welcome.

Now sure what is going on with this thread but it comes up as not being value. So I joined but was not able to sign up on the required thread.

So far I'm having a problem getting the threads to open. If they aren't working tomorrow, I'll notify admin. You probably know more about the forum than I do, but many people don't know how to find a list of the last 100 people who joined. That's one of the "tips". :D

Yes, there's is no formal greeting, or message, you can post whatever you like, I would just like to see newbies hooking up with people who can help them use the forum.

The message that Joanne posted on everyone's profile page is great - if you don't think she would mind I will copy and paste it of course giving her credit for authoring the post.

I guess I am REALLY learning about how valuable profile pages are. I don't like crow pies :yeahthat:, but I've had to eat a lot of them in my time.

I think that would be a lovely tribute to Joanne. You have no idea how many of us love the profile pages, they can be really fun!

You don't have to be that knowledgeable, if there's something you don't know how to do, I'll be glad to help. I've been welcoming people for a while, and the main things they want to know is how to use the forum. Go to the index page: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/index.php and look for the appropriate forum for their question. I always suggest posting "I'm new here" thread on the General forum. I try to lean away from answering any actual questions on specific topics, I point them to the forum, and then I add my input after they have written a thread. This "how to" forum is another great resource: YorkieTalk How-To Guides - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community in helping the newbie.

I'm hoping newbies will join the club, it's a great way to start connecting with people.

I can't get the other threads in the club to open, so I'll post one of my "Tips" here.

To get to the list of newest members:

First go to the index page. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/index.php, at the bottom of the page, you will see the words,


YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community Statistics - YorkieTalk Detailed Statistics

Click on Yorkietalk Detailed Statistics, and on that page, click on Results To View: You will get a list of the last 100 members who joined. Start at the bottom because those names go first.


We are getting around 30 - 40 new members a day, of course most are just reading threads and doing a search, but some will stick around if we have made them feel welcome.


I'm hoping all members of the club, can greet at least 10 new people a day!

I just opened the group last night, and there seems to be a few glitches to it. I can't get some of the threads to open, but if you look in the top right hand corner, you should see the words: "Join Group". Click on that!
