Sounds like it's cheaper to buy them a seat. I'm sure he'll do well. My daughter flew to Seattle with her Cav and fell asleep. The guy in the next seat woke her up and said, "your dog just got out and is walking up and down the rows looking at people. I hope he's not vicious". |
Hahahahahahahaha!

I totally agree!
Furthermore.....if Sugar's flight is the same price as mine (sometimes MORE ) and she has to sit IN A BAG on the COLD FLOOR....shouldn't she at least get frequent flier miles??? Or a fly 5x get one flight free certificate?? Something??:rolleyes: |
I suppose one consolation is that on Virgin at least, the extra fee counts towards FF files - so Thor will be earn me a free ticket if I fly with him twice.
Thanks for the tip on how cold the floor is, I hadn't realized. I will be sure to keep a blanket handy for Thor.
I generally push the "one carry on, one purse" rule to the limit, but I don't think I can do it this time. I'll be carrying a week's supply of potty pads for Thor, plus Christmas presents, plus I'm going somewhere cold, so I need more clothes for me. That's asking a lot of one piece of luggage.
That last time I flew, there was a guy with a ten lb yorkie mix. This dog was TERRIFIED. He ended up switching seats with a girl in the emergency row because she wanted to sit with her friend in my row (does that make sense?). He left his dog under the seat next to me, because you can't have a dog in an emergency row.
I felt bad for the dog, so I stupidly poked the side of the carrier to be friendly -- and she bit me, right through the carrier. And it HURT! That gave me a new respect for the power of canine jaws. Anyway, I didn't feel so friendly towards the dog after that, even though I know it wasn't her fault. We were going to move the dog to be near her owner after the flight took off, but he slept the whole way, while his poor dog was stuck with strangers.
Regarding the whole scanning thing, I'm confused. I flew recently, and went through a standard metal detector. Are they only in some cities, or was I totally oblivious or what?
I have Mike (alaskayorkie) looking into legislation to outlaw pet fees. :D;)
