Best Carrier/Purse
 

What is the best dog carrier/purse? I have looked online but I am still not sure. I don't want to spend a fortune. I want something sturdy and not too trendy so it won't go out of "style". I have a boy dog, so something neutral in color. The breeder said he should be 5 lbs grown. He is 17 weeks now but I would like to get a carrier as soon as possible to get him use to it. Thanks!

I used the small one until Duke turned 2 years old. He's about 7-8lbs now.
I have the black one. It's not fancy, I use it to travel on the train and car and around town. I like it.

The only thing it doesn't have is the hook to hook him in while he's in the bag. I don't need it because Duke is not a dog that I can allow him to peak his head out while in the bag so this works for me.

We have this one. I purchased it for Ally at 3 months from PetCo for a long trip. She will be two years at the end of the month and still loves it. Top zips and front zips. I think Ally is about 5.5 months old in this picture.

Thank y'all! I like both of those choices I will have to look at petsmart and petco. I want one that can be hooked to a harness because I'm not sure I trust my little guy to not jump :)

I hear great things about the kwigy bo bags and plan to order the Alex soon- I think they look beautiful!

I love those too but a little out of the price range for me. I'm not sure how much I would use the bag in the first place so don't want to spend over $100.

juicy couture bag that I paid 40 for. Some person bought it and their pup outgrew it in a month... So I benefitted from that :-). They have some cute stuff on e-bay. Best of luck :-)

I agree, that's why when Duke is in his bag, he is in there, no peeking out :) if you want yours to peak out, then definitely get the one with the hook.

I have a Vera Bradley carrier.... Perfect size and very pretty.... plus I have a small backpack that I use that matches it.... keeps my hands free!

We also have the Alex bag, LOVE it! Use it all the time and don't need to carry another purse or bag cause of all of the extra pouches that can be closed on the side for my stuff, well worth the $$, even though I didn't pay full price for mine. It's the black paten leather one looks just like everybodies big purse w/silver trim.:animal-pa

Hm my mom bought me a cheapo at Petco (she paid like $40 maybe)...it looks almost exactly like the Coach I purchased a month later, for ugh (embarrassing) a couple hundred more! I actually have been thinking about these dog strollers with carriers-I figure it's multi functional and large...plus "eBay rule" I just found my car seat harness seat belt attachments there for less than $12 when I paid $30 at a local pet boutique! PET TREX 3 IN 1 STROLLER CARRIER CAR SEAT DOG is really neat and there's tons listed for super cheap right now!

I was actually looking at the Pet Trex 3-1. Even though my family will think I am nuts for the stroller part ha ha :rolleyes:. I like how it's all three because I need a car seat & stroller also. Thanks!

Here's the one I found. It's not expensive, but well made. Shadow loves it and you can close the top/side for warmth or to travel "incognito". I like that is has two outside pockets for my phone, wallet, keys, whatever.

This of course is just for carting her around. It wouldn't be considered safe for travel, etc.

I know none of my dogs need a stroller, yet but I was thinking this is so cheap on eBay and you never know when you might need one so it'd be super handy to have such a multifunctional thingy...let me know if you get one and how it works I've got it on my list of January items...

I actually just bought an I-go2 three in one pull behind carrier at Ross for $15. Couldnt pass it up. It's a pull behind on wheels, backpack, and booster car seat.

I hate all of you that have Ross :p

I'm just sayin' Ross works but eBay often has no sales tax...and .99 cent starting bids on things you wouldn't believe...ye and I like no sales tax it makes me feel like I'm breaking the law:p (j/k)

This is the exact bag that I have too! LOVE it, well worth the extra money. I've had mine a year and half now and use it almost daily. It's very well made and very descreet - I can get away with taking Fancy anywhere and I do mean anywhere. I have even had people compliment me on my "purse"!:p

Honestly I'm semi (no offense you seem to like Coach) disappointed in the Coach brand-I like their purses though I only have two of them and love that they are an America owned designer brand-my BF is a cheap guy too LOL!. I used the carrier several times and the strap stretched, also it's just barely fits my Elvis in it-he's large though 9lbs so a smaller standard Yorkie would fit better, and when you have the top open the material doesn't bend well at all. I had an issue with my Coach Rainbow Signature Bikini too in the same year (the edge stitching unraveled on it's own). I'm an ex-designer buyer LOL I have kids now-I've only bought the Chloe Paddington, my Coach carrier & bikini and the Gucci 75 Anniversary Hobo (extra large) in like the last 6 years now since I had my son-my second child, but my friends complain almost everything is made with half the quality it used to be. I'm saddened to have found out Coach (an American designer brand) is made only in China! Plus when you are paying designer prices (it shouldn't be all about the brand tag -it's supposed to be about an investment heirloom quality "designer item"-well before "designer" was commercialized) and the item is poorly crafted it's like ugh thanks I paid for quality and got a label that used to stand for that-seriously the Petco imitation (that looks exactly the same except the correct shades and the Coach stamps) is actually better constructed-but from cheapo lesser quality materials...thus I'm looking at the PET TREX 3 IN 1 STROLLER CARRIER CAR SEAT right now-it has a reputation of being a well made dog product line item and seems to be reasonably priced, multifunctional and I'm thinking with the health issues of one of my dogs I'll never know when I will need a stroller...

I agree!!:thumbup: I don't have a coach dog carrier but I do have a coach handbag. For the $$, I have other handbags that cost way less that have held up way better. They aren't that well built.

I bought my two Coach purses...well lets just say they are vintage now LOL, but when Coach first became well know as the American designer brand-well they earned a name and then shipped all manufacturing over to China...it's a shame I cpmpared my old Coach purse to my newer dog carrier and the difference in quality of construction is like WOW-a difference. I'm not trying to bash Coach I think all name brands or designer brands do this now-it's so important to look for quality and not just a name I got my Gucci 75th Anniversary Hobo and love it, I know I can pass it down to my grandgirls and it will still be holding up! But I've seen a few of their other handbags from the same year and its unbelievable they are made by even the same manufacturer! I think with the dog carriers a lot of designers just slopped them together because of a shock and immediate want in the market...maybe ha ha ha well when the boy doesn't have a heart attach over the price and designers realize I'll be putting not only a live animal but my furry baby in it they will step up the quality in construction and I'll consider one again later

Yes, I agree their (coach) quality standards have went way down... The zipper pull on 2 of my wallets have came/broken off and I am not hard on my bags at all. When I switch out they go back in the dust bag - they never touch the floor when I am using them, etc (yea, I'm a little OCD when it comes to my bags) Hubby said for as much as you pay for them they should last a lifetime. I agree they should. It's crazy the amount of stuff that is made from China - every toy that I pick up on my 4 kids Christmas lists is from you guessed it China...:thumbdown

My Kwigy Bo bag has held up great though and I use it almost everyday, maybe I should just buy it in another color!?! I really like the signature C's though.:rolleyes: Maybe I'm a label w*ore :o :laugh:

Label w*ore...I love it! It's so true though if you are going to buy something from a place known for cheapo manufacturing (sorry China-but u know it's true) you might as well pay for the quality you are getting...I'm gonna actually look at the Kwigy and the Celltei sites right now-oh and kid's Christmas, OMG last year we got Zhu Zhu, & Transformers madness...

Ok, I hate to admit it, especially after reading this thread, but I am a coach addict! Where did you find coach carriers???

At a local store that carries Coach personally-be really leery of buying designer anything online unless you trust the source-knock off are usually sold online,because you don't get to feel the textures when buying then, or because you often can't verify an online store is a certified licenses retailer.

I soooo wish I knew you wanted one... I had one several weeks ago that I just gave to the salvation army... I got rid of it for many reasons, the main one being that Nicky was afraid of the thing!! Rocky, Nickys elder brother (lol) LOVED it, hed sleep on it every now and then, Not IN it but ON it, lol. Well it was always under foot and I never really used it. I even tried putting a shirt or something that I wore just so Nicky wouldn't feel scared in it, NOPE he STILL didn't want to have anything to do with it.

But like concretegurl said... go for the stroler thing... I have one and both my boys LOVE it... it's like their own little room!! When we do things in the summer they have their own shade!! Also if we are say at a car show, or someplace where their is a crowd of people I know that niether one of my boys are getting trampled on, or doing there business where they should not be. I can go off to the side take them out on their lead they can do their business, and we are back to enjoying the day. I had one person ask me where I got the buggy, cause she wanted to take her yorkie out but was afraid of her getting trampled on and she didn't want to carry her on hot days, she thought that the buggy would be perfect.
Discount Ramps is where I got it and I spent 87 bucks on it, it has since paied for itself. The boys just LOVE it!!
