How terrible!! I recall this being mentioned when it happen, I've been wanting to get a car seat ever since. More so now that we have two and thought it would be way to difficult to drive with teh extra legs moving around. RIP SWEET DESI |

I thought Levi would pitch the biggest fit when I moved him to the backseat, but he really did take it like a champ. He cried/whined a little the first day, but now he's perfectly fine and I like knowing how much safer he is with his seat in the backseat. |
Today I ordered a Sherpa Original medium size airline approved carrier for Jack for our trip to Texas in January. I search all day for one with lots of ventalation right size and one I could afford. I found the best deal at Amazon and free shipping, so I may start using it in the car too with the seat belt. |
I am so sorry. I worry about accidents every time they are in the car with me. I'll have to get some type of seat asap. Has anyone tried the console car seats, they can be right next to you. |
the airbag in my car turns off by a sensor because he is under 60 lbs |
Rest in Peace Baby Desi. I hope the mother makes a full recovery. |
I'm so sorry to hear about Desi. He was an adorable little fellow and so sweet. Thank God everyone else survived. We will definitely be getting Mia a car seat. |
I'm so sorry about Desi. Stories like that just break my heart. I use hard plastic crates that have a spot that the seat belt goes through. When both are with me they are in the back but usually if it's just one of them I put them in the front. I think the airbag turns off automatically because of their weight but I'm not positive. Would a hard crate hold up to an airbag? They've never ridden in the car outside their crate. We started when they were puppies and it still amazes me how well they travel. |
Sorry to hear about Desi. Quote:

Oh my. I am so sorry for your loss. That is a great point though. I never have thought about that. I take Rocky almost everywhere around town with me. I've never even thought about having wreck with the little guy. -.- I'm going to have to look into these safety belts for dogs. :animal-pa |
Just seeing this tonight -- I am so sorry for your little Desi! What a difficult loss. |
Sorry to hear about Desi... This a a great "wake up" reminder and wonderful post! We have the medium snoozer which 2 of my Yorkies will fit into. We traveled over the holiday and because I have yet to get another, we used an oversized crate for all three of them. It was seatbelted in and wedged in the back seat (we put it in the long way -front to back-). It was a pretty safe way for them to travel, but I plan on getting another snoozer very soon.... maybe I will order another one today! |
I am so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Desi. Thank you for giving us all a wake up call for car safety with our fur babies. |

My girls are always in a car seat. I have both the Snoozer console and a Snoozer My Buddy. Sissy goes with me most often and the console is the place she likes to be the best!!! I love the Snoozers.... So sorry to hear about your little Desi. |
