I visited a kennel today Today my friend and I visited a kennel in Hopkinton, MA. I saw three 3 months old yorkies, and one 6 month old. Their colors are not what I am looking for but they were really cute. The 6 month old boy didn't let me go. His face stays on my mind. I am still contacting different breeders and most of them haven't gotten back to me yet :( Anyway.. I felt like... kennel is somewhere I would like to visit when I have time... :) They were selling female puppies for 1175 I think.. then 6 month old one for about 800. Michiko |
Good luck on your search. If the lil guy stays on your mind then maybe you should go back and take another look. Are you definitely set on a different color? |
The 6 month old one is.... blue and gold.. more like silver to me.. I really liked his face.. but I want to get black-tan so badly... Plus I am looking for one for spring... so he probably will be bought by then.. which is good for him. But I am thinking about visiting him next week.. |
Do you want the puppy to stay black and tan for all his life ? |
Spring is a while off yet and in puppy time that is alot of stuff you would be missing. Since you have your heart set on a specific color then I would wait til I found the perfect one. Plus your heart knows instantly if its the right baby for you. It took me 7 months to find my baby and I have to say it was extremely hard to not take all the ones that I looked at. Maybe you can visit until he can find a new home. You could always get 2!!!lol |
Ya I am gonna take my time.. I don't think I can afford to buy two. I just want to make sure a right one for me. I like to see dogs in general, so visiting a kennel was very nice. I am planning to visit an another kennel next weekend if possible. For now, I am trying to see whom I might want to buy a yorkie from. Hopefully.. breeders will contact me back soon. I like to get black-tan.. not blue-gold or anything silverish... I like them too, but I prefer black and tan. I know they change around the color.. which is fine with me.. but I like darker ones :) Michiko |
Don't forget there color does change a bit. At least you are doing your research and not running out and just getting the first baby you see. Its a hard decision and one not to be made lightly.. I have a yorkie and a cocker. I would love to get a lil girl yorkie but I don't have any more room. Plus I travel for work may thru sept. and it is hard enough now with the 2 kids and my 2 furbabies the fish and I've just taken in a stray cat. I can always hope thou. |
Boy! Snoodles changed so much in color that I couldn't believe it. She went from black and tan to pretty silver and black and now she is golden and black mostly. How would you ever know what their kfinal color would be? Our breeders on here could tell us, I know. They are pretty knowledgeable. Pat |
That is true. Peawea's hair is always changing colors esp. on the top of his head. When does that finally stop? |
Good Luck in what ever you decide. I know these little ones are hard to get out of our minds once we see them. |

Good luck in your search. It is a great that you are doing your research. |
Hi! I am going to assume the kennel you visited today was called the puppy patch?? If I am right....My cousin bought a puppy there...At that time I was also looking for a yorkie...I did A LOT of research before I invested the money into her ( I ended up buying from a reputable breeder in Hubbardston) I called the "Puppy Patch", and went onto their web site...When I spoke with one of the woman there she was very upbeat, positive and friendly until I asked if their pups were local...Her whole attitude changed towards me. She told me that some of the puppies are from other states....including Canada. Some of them they go to pick up in a van and others of shipped to them..I don't know if you know anything about puppie mills but,,,,this is a puppy mill...They breed and breed the poor females until they just can't do it anymore. The animals live in very poor conditions, not to mention the in breeding and the sickness that the puppies end up with. Some don't even make it out of the crates alive. I DO NOT support puppy mills...I know they may be able to sell these puppies less expensive than a breeder but, just think about what you are getting....an animal that may have alot of health issues that will end up either costing you a hell of alot of money or worse....you can't afford it and have to have them put down....If you are really interested in a yorkie I can give you the name and number of the breeder that I bought my little Sadie Mae from....I believe she either has a litter now or is expecting soon...please e-mail me...Do not support these horrible puppy mills....Remember just because it looks like a nice place doesn't mean it is. :warning: |
Thanks for the info. It was the first place I went to see a yorkie anyway... that is sad if it is really a puppy mill..... The dogs there wanted a lot of attention. |
