1 Attachment(s) Their coats do change quite a bit...really continually I noticed. My female, Pippa is 16 mos old and still very dark. Other Yorkie people comment on her "black back" all the time. I don't know why she is staying dark so long, but she is pretty. Here is a pic of her back. |
Actually, I picked the wrong picture. I meant to pick the one where I'm looking down on her back-but I think you can still see how dark she is. I don't know if there is any way to predict what their adult coat will be. |
I thought they were suppose to have black backs! I know Snoodles looks the same way. What other color are they? I don't mean the German ones , but a regular Yorkie? Pat |
Some are more blond/tan, some are silver (steel blue, its called) and tan (more like a golden blonde). I saw one last night in Petsmart that was beige all over, but her head and feet were just a lighter color. She was very pretty. It looks like my girl will stay black-she has a silver undercoat near her rear though! I can't tell about my little boy yet! |
There are 4 coat colors recognized by the AKC plus the alternate markings designation for piebald. The colors are blue and gold, blue and tan, black and gold and black and tan. The blue should be a dark steel blue for 'correct' coloring, but will vary from dark to pale silver depending on the parentage. Two of my steel blue females actually change coat colors when pregnant and go from steel to silver and Ana even throws some platinum streaking. She's finally going back to steel after being on break from pups and out of heat. hormones, sheesh. |

[QUOTE=michiko]The 6 month old one is.... blue and gold.. more like silver to me.. I really liked his face.. but I want to get black-tan so badly.QUOTE] Um yeah. I bought a black and tan...who is now a blue and gold. I don't think you are ever going to know for sure what you are getting. They just change so much. |
