Hello everyone!!! I am so excited!! Tomorrow I pick up my yorkie puppy!! His name is Bentley and he is a tiny little thing!! he is 11 weeks old and just one pound........... I am very anxious to learn everything I can and can't wait to read and share stories on here.... I am 41, married, and have two children, 13 & 17.... We have a two year old goldendoodle, Baxter. He is a gentle giant and hoping it doesn't take too long before they are best buds. I have bought more stuff for Bentley for Christmas!! My kids think he might make out better than they do....lol. Here is my new baby Bentley.... I don't know exactly how old he was is this picture tho http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...70/Bentley.jpg Can't wait to get to know all of you :) I have so much learn... Any good books I should read? |
Congratulations. Bentley is adorable. Since he is so tiny make sure you read up on hypoglycemia and have nutrical on hand just in case. The most important thing is to make sure he is eating frequently. Enjoy the little cutie. |
Thank you Patti :) I have already purchased the nutrical and the puppy drops. I am so excited! I will post some pictures after I bring him home tomorrow... I am able to bring him to work with me during the day so I will keep close eye on his eating habits !! Again, thank you Patti ! |
Congrats! Glad you stocked up on the nutrical, my best friend purchased a 6 week old Yorkie who weighed ounces and was at the animal emergency because he got so sick. I was quite shocked the breeder let him go, but the key is knowledge! Best of luck! Chloe was an itty bitty for quite a while and now weighs in at about 3.5-4 lbs! |
Sounds like Christmas will be just a bit more special in your house this year! Congrats.... |
awwwH! congrats on your new furbaby! |

Congratulations and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. It's wonderful to see new owners researching and being prepared. He is adorable. |
How cute! Hope he is everything and more you are looking for. |
A real cutie. Welcome to YorkiTalk. I actually found my breeder on this site. |
Good luck with your tiny puppy. I hope that is one pound rounded down -- and hopefully closer to 2 pounds. Most breeders recommend puppies stay with mom and siblings for 12 weeks minimum and reach a weight of 2 pounds. There are many dangers for a one pound pup, they are so much more fragile than you may realize. Be careful -- especially with your MUCH larger dog. They can injure these little ones when they are only trying to be friendly and play. I don't want to dampen your new arrival -- just issuing extra caution. As for good books -- I would start here on YT. There are plenty of great "stickies" -- the posts at the beginning of each forum that are marked to stay there for good. |
:xmastree1:Congrats on your new little guy and WELCOME to YT! You'll find alot of helpful advise and information here.:xmastree1: |
I found it was hard not to worry when we got ours, and he was 4 months and 2lbs. Yorkie Talk really helped. Keep a close eye on him and know that he will train slowly. Also, I love the name. |
Congratulations!! |
