Hello everyone!!! I am so excited!! Tomorrow I pick up my yorkie puppy!! His name is Bentley and he is a tiny little thing!! he is 11 weeks old and just one pound........... I am very anxious to learn everything I can and can't wait to read and share stories on here.... I am 41, married, and have two children, 13 & 17.... We have a two year old goldendoodle, Baxter. He is a gentle giant and hoping it doesn't take too long before they are best buds. I have bought more stuff for Bentley for Christmas!! My kids think he might make out better than they do....lol. Here is my new baby Bentley.... I don't know exactly how old he was is this picture tho http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...70/Bentley.jpg Can't wait to get to know all of you :) I have so much learn... Any good books I should read? |
Congratulations. Bentley is adorable. Since he is so tiny make sure you read up on hypoglycemia and have nutrical on hand just in case. The most important thing is to make sure he is eating frequently. Enjoy the little cutie. |
Thank you Patti :) I have already purchased the nutrical and the puppy drops. I am so excited! I will post some pictures after I bring him home tomorrow... I am able to bring him to work with me during the day so I will keep close eye on his eating habits !! Again, thank you Patti ! |
Congrats! Glad you stocked up on the nutrical, my best friend purchased a 6 week old Yorkie who weighed ounces and was at the animal emergency because he got so sick. I was quite shocked the breeder let him go, but the key is knowledge! Best of luck! Chloe was an itty bitty for quite a while and now weighs in at about 3.5-4 lbs! |
Sounds like Christmas will be just a bit more special in your house this year! Congrats.... |
awwwH! congrats on your new furbaby! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk!! Congratulations on your new addition :) He is adorable... Make sure to post pictures when you get him home! |
Congratulations and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. It's wonderful to see new owners researching and being prepared. He is adorable. |
How cute! Hope he is everything and more you are looking for. |
A real cutie. Welcome to YorkiTalk. I actually found my breeder on this site. |
Good luck with your tiny puppy. I hope that is one pound rounded down -- and hopefully closer to 2 pounds. Most breeders recommend puppies stay with mom and siblings for 12 weeks minimum and reach a weight of 2 pounds. There are many dangers for a one pound pup, they are so much more fragile than you may realize. Be careful -- especially with your MUCH larger dog. They can injure these little ones when they are only trying to be friendly and play. I don't want to dampen your new arrival -- just issuing extra caution. As for good books -- I would start here on YT. There are plenty of great "stickies" -- the posts at the beginning of each forum that are marked to stay there for good. |
:xmastree1:Congrats on your new little guy and WELCOME to YT! You'll find alot of helpful advise and information here.:xmastree1: |
I found it was hard not to worry when we got ours, and he was 4 months and 2lbs. Yorkie Talk really helped. Keep a close eye on him and know that he will train slowly. Also, I love the name. |
Congratulations!! |
Welcome, congrats, and he is just adorable. |
Congratulations on your new puppy. Looks like Christmas came early. Welcome Bently to Yorkie Talk. |
Bentley is home with us :) Here is Bentley on his way to his first vet "check-up"...All bundled up and ready to go http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m.../bentley01.jpg He is such a good boy....He is 14 weeks......2.5 lbs... and Dr. Coleman said he is in excellent health! Thank goodness!!! Until he is older and can stay home with our other 4 legged baby (Baxter, a 75lb goldendoodle), he comes to work with me. The breeder didn't recommend I take him outside to train yet because of the weather. (cold and snowy here in New York). She paper trained. But the vet said it was fine with a coat on and short trips. He has peed outside once. The vet said it was confusing for dogs to tell them "inside the house potty was ok and then later on tell them its not ok". Here is a pic of him hanging out on my desk at work :) http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...tleyatwork.jpg Hope you all have a great day!! And thank you all for the best wishes for me and Bentley!!! |
Bentley is home with us! Here is picture of Bentley all ready to go to his first vet appointment!!! http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m.../bentley01.jpg And here he is with me at work!!! http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...tleyatwork.jpg He was 2.5 pounds at his vet check.......Clean bill of health!! Oh how I love this baby boy!!!!! Thank you to all for your good wishes for Bentley and I :):animal36 We appreciate it! |

When we got Opi she was 2.2 lbs at 14 weeks now she is just over a year old and a whopping 5 lbs!! Opi is trained for outside, but when it's pouring rain, even with her booties & raincoat she won't go outside, so we'll throw a pad down for her. We've even done it a few times in the last few days with this early cold snap going on. I'm jealous..I want to bring Opi to work. While no one would object..it's an office & workshop-too much coming & going, I would worry. |
He is adorable. That's great he checked out healthy. |
He's just precious. I'm sure you're in love head over heels for him.:p |
