Thanksgiving meal What is on your yorkies menu for Thanksgiving? I want to make Chase and Calvin a special meal. I was thinking some turkey, sweet potato, and green beans. Maybe some yogurt for dessert? I need some ideas :) |
I thought turkey was bad for dogs? it was what went around the last time I had a thanksgiving dinner with family and had dogs around. I'm not sure...google is my friend, let me see.. |
White meat turkey, no skin, is fine to give. I think sweet potatoes would be fine as long as no sugar or marshmallows are added. Green beans and yoqurt are both good for them |
Ah, just got done reading an article about it, white meat no fat is okay to give :D Good to know. |

I always give turkey (white meat only) sweet potatoe and green beans both plain no sugar or salt...My girl loves it. Happy Thanksgiving! |
We did thanksgiving two days ago. I gave the yorkies some white meat from the turkey and some sweet potatoe mixed in with their kibble. I had to boil the sweet potatoes before I made the casserole, so I just mashed some plain, boiled sweet potatoe. The loved it! |
I have to work the day before, the day of, and the day after thanksgiving. but I asked my Boyfriend to bring me and the fur babies a plate back from when he goes and sees his family ... |
Oh, yes! They love sweet potatoes. |
Ooo I might have to make my two their own plate for Thanksgiving... |
I think it's the turkey skin that you have to watch out for. I know last Christmas my aunt gave Jackson too much skin from the ham (I didn't know she was doing this) and he puked it right back up. I never thought about it-- I guess I should make Jackson his own plate too! |
Our's get a little Turkey breast (skinless) and sweet potatoes....I consider the pumpkin in the kibble to be the desert! |
I picked up some organic frozen sweet potato cubes, and some organic yogurt yesterday. We already have green beans. I didn't have any luck finding turkey at the healthy store yesterday, so I'll try at the grocery store today or tomorrow. We are going to my grandma's for thanksgiving, so I will have to make them their meal when we get home. Is it bad that I am not cooking for us, but just the dogs :) |
