Are these purebred ? Need opinions. I am going to my local Humane Society today to look at two yorkie puppies. One male one female. Both must have come from the same home. The shelter website says they are mixes but they look purebred to me. It also says they are both 5 months old. The female looks older to me. Could anyone take a look at the pictures and give me your opinion ? Thanks, link to the pics are below. Animal Details | Animal Humane Society Animal Details | Animal Humane Society |
Can't tell by the pictures, but sure are cute! The little boy actually looks like he's smiling. |
The little girl does look older than 5 months. Not sure about the little boy's age but sure looks like a puppy. They are both adorable. Hope that things work out when you go to visit with them. |
It just amazes me that these little dolls end up at shelters. It will probably break my heart leaving one there but I'm sure both will be adopted very quickly. |
Boy, the first one sure looks like a yorkie to me but the second one (Fred) says it is a mix. It is kind of hard to believe that a yorkie - even a mix would weight 8lbs though. I'm no expert so don't take my word for it. Grab either one of them! They ar both adorable! |
I don't know if they are purebred or not, but they are both precious! I think I'd have to take both of them home with me if I went to look at them. :) |
He doesn't look 8 pounds to me but maybe Im a bad judge ? They open an 1 1/2 hours. LOL. |
now why couldn't they been around when I was looking? So cute! |
They look purebred to me and adorable! Usually a rescue will take anything that looks anything like a yorkie, and I wonder why these two have been snatched up? Do you know if your shelter is a no-kill shelter? |
I'm not sure if they are pure bred or not, but they both look adorable as can be! Good luck, can't wait to see if one is the right fit for your family! Let us know! |
I think it's no-kill, but either way small dogs get adopted quickly around here. They won't be there by the weekend I am quite sure. (we tried adopting first but could never get there fast enough) |
Oh this is so sad, and the reason they give for giving them up is that they are moving . . . |

I thought the same thing, the girl, ginger, looks like she is at least 5 or 6 yrs old, and the little boy is very cute, head looks a bit larger than what i have seen in puppies that age......but good luck seeing them, they are adorable..... |
The girl looks like an adult yorkie the male not so sure. They are both cuties. I hope you get one or both. |
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww what lil cuties! tell them today is wed. 2 for 1 day..lol....I would have hard time leaving one behind...Good luck! |

i don't know for sure about purebred. they both look like it to me, but who cares they are super cute and i'd snatch em' both up in a hurry. |
That little boy oh I could eat him |
They are both adults. The boy looks more like a puppy bc of his dark saddle, but look at both their faces, no more thumbprints. The gray takes a long time to grow out, I'd say they are at least 2 years old. The boy is really cute. Looks like he has a cotton coat though. The girls coloring is just like Uni's! Hope you get one of them! |
They are both adorable. Good luck. |
Omg that little boy is the cutest thing! His face just makes me smile:)! I hope you get one or both hehe :) |

So are we at home with a Yorkie???? Peggy, Monkey & Maddie :daisy: |
So how did the shelter visit go? Are you home with 2 new babies? :) |
The Humane Society is NOT a no kill shelter but they have strict criteria for euthanizing. Usually very old, sick or agressive dogs. The other poster from MN is right about little dogs getting adopted very fast in Minnesota. I took the day off of work to go look at them today and then I found out that the shelter was closed all day for a big staff meeting. ARGH ! I have a friend that is a vet tech at one of the branches of this shelter. She pulled some strings and they are going to put the little girl on hold for me tomorrow when they open so I can go look at her after I get off of work. In the meantime yet ANOTHER yorkie puppy showed up for adoption at the Humane Society. 7 months old. His pic is below. Animal Details | Animal Humane Society Why are so many yorkie puppies showing up at the Humane Society ? Im a little surprised at that. I will update tomorrow night and let everyone know if I gor the little girl. Thanks so much for all the responses. I agree that the girl is older. Iam still undecided if she looks purebred. |

You know i just looked at the ages again. I'm thinking they must mean years and not months and mistakenly put in months. Who could know how many months in tenths? That would be like saying 6 months and 10 days. Who does that? This last guy is definitely not 6 months either, probably 6 years. They are all cute! Hope you get the girl! btw, just bc they don't "look" purebred doesn't mean they aren't. Many byb will breed yorkies that aren't to the standard looks-wise, but they are still yorkies. |
