Just thinking about you and Rosie this morning. I bet she's all snuggly and warm in her new crate. :) |

she sure is.. :).. sorry its been a few days. Things around here have been CRAZY.. not only did I get another dog but on the same day we brought Rosie home I ended up with my brothers 6 month old grandson because his wife ended up in the hospital and the 18 year old mom of the baby is in the process of having her rights taken away for neglect and they didnt have anyone else to take him so he's been here since wednesday night. Dont get me wrong, I love babies but its been 7 years since Ive had to take care of one over night..Im exhausted. Now onto to Rosie, she is good, has more energy then she did have and LOVES being in the house. When I take her out for walks she pretty much does ok on the leash untill we start walking around to where the other owners property (where her dog house is/was) and my property meet she takes off, with me dragging behind her unitll we get to around the corner of my house where she can see the porch and she practically jumps the stairs to get to the door, then she whines and scratches at the door like a mad woman untill I open it, then she bolts to her kennel knocking whatever or whom every over untill she gets there..I am not a small person and you all seen how skinny she is but damn is she strong..:animal36, we know go a new route..lol.. we also have been working on getting all the dogs/cats to like each other, and Im trying to manage my time between 5 dogs, giving them walks and the attention they need, taking care of a baby, my own 4 kids and trying to fit my hubby in there, while keeping the house clean, laundry done and food on the table..:coffee_n_ oh... she is very gun shy.. the previous owners were outside shooting yesterday while I was walking her and the poor dog just about jumped into my pooper everytime the gun went off, I had to reassure her that it was ok. :( So she will not be able to go a family as a hunting dog.. which is not big deal alot of people like overgrown lap dogs..:p |
Just read your whole story and so thankful you took Rosie into your home and your heart. Bless you for the rescue. |
I'm so happy Rosie (I love her name) is doing so well. I just hope the pace of everything right now doesn't wear you completely out!:) |
OMG that is so infuriating that they could watch the dog get to that point and just act like its normal. These people cannot own animals and I REALLY hope you or someone can find away to get the Shi-zu away from them too. I am sure it is in just as much danger the second it barks or chews something. If your animal control would ignore the pictures of that Beagle there is something very very wrong with the law enforcement there. Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a better life! |
God Bless you and your hubby for getting this poor girl out of a horrible life! ;) |
Wow! Talk about a BUSY household! Did you end up taking Rosie to the vet last week? |

Hang in there, you sure have a lot going on - and clearly a gigantic heart. Don't forget to take care of *you* a little too :). |
Just checking in to see how you are doing with Rosie and your great-nephew. Bless you for giving them both the love and care they need. |
OMG... I just read your story about Rosie... At first i cried...then I was happy.. then cried again and now I'm happy..lol... WOW!!! is all I can say... I truly believe that dogs like Rosie know when we are trying to help them :) This is how we got our Chocolate lab Kylie.. But she was only 12-16 weeks old...very skinny and tie in a shed with a rope around her neck so tight. VERY SAD!!! My heart goes out to you and your husband, you both are Angels from heaven!! |

Thanks everyone for your compliments, support, and advice with this whole situation. The baby left. He was with me a total of 5 days, and another 2 with my mom. His grandma, the one that was in the hospital is doing better but will probably be hosptialized again as she has had on going problems. So if you have a extra prayer or two, please send them her way. Weve had Rosie 8 days and she has made significant improvements, she has the energy of a puppy now and it has been difficult keeping her busy..lol.. she loves to go for walks but hates being outside for any period of time alone. She has filled out a tiny bit, you can still see most of her bones, as well as when you pet her you can still feel them but according to the vet it will take her several weeks if not months to actually get her back to her "normal" weight. Her and my beagle are learning to get along, the beagle, has huge dominance issues and we are still moving caustiously with the 2 but also making improvements, they no longer bark all day at each other. :animal36 She barks at my cats like she wants to eat them and we have kept the smaller dogs away from her for now. They do know each other exsist but we havent done a face to face yet. I can only do one dog at a time.:) I will get another picture of her soon.. so you all can see her happy face. :D |
I cant believe I missed this thread! You really are an angel, I was so shocked when I saw the first pictures of Rosie.. they really broke my heart. I will never understand how anyone could treat any animal in that way, she was so skinny and she had no life. :( But then you came along and saved her! She looks so much happier in the recent pictures and Im sure she thinks she is in paradise! Its heartbreaking that she gets scared when alone outside and pulls when she is near her old 'home' (if you can even call it that).. she is probably worried that this happiness wont last and she will go back to being tied up outside in the cold. But the longer she is with you the more she will trust you not to treat her like her evil ex-owners did. I really do think that she will turn out to be the best dog in the world for you, she will love you unconditionally for the kindness you have shown her, and I believe she would follow you to the ends of the earth because you really are her saviour. I love that this thread has a happy ending and I will keep coming back for more updates on Rosie. Again THANK YOU to you and your family for taking her in, you are worth your weight in gold. :) xxx |
I'm glad to know Rosie is doing good. She is so cute and sad looking just like my Bassets. I don't know how anybody could abuse that dog. When I yell at my dogs they look at me with those sad hound eyes and I have to kiss them. So you can guess they are really spoiled. Well I hope Rpseie gets spoiled also because she desrves some happiness and God Bless you for giving her this happiness. Eventually Rosie, your cats, and your little guys will all become friendly. I know mine did. |
