Funny little things our yorkies do
 

What funny little things do your yorkies do? There is no one who could tell me these little ones arent smart they may be little but theres alot of intelligence there. Heres some funny things mine do:

Every morning we let Chachi out to go potty and one of the cats will try to go out behind them and Jewels will go behind them and grab the cat around the back so it cant go out. Jewels knows we feed everyone breakfast in the morning and we dont want the cats to go out so she will stop whoever is trying to get out.

When I take Chachi to the vet or the groomer I have to turn the travel carrier he is in upside down to get him out of it. He fights getting out of that carrier with all his might.


Both Chachi and Jewels bark when one of the cats is at the door wanting back inside the house.

In the summer time when the ice cream truck comes down the street they will bark and cry untill we get them an ice cream cup.

I know there are many more but these are some of the funny things mine do. What do yours do

LOL I agree they are such clever little things!
Poppy dosnt seem as bright as Chachi and Jewels but there are a couple of things she does.
She seems to know when a member of our family is coming home, she will bark at the door even before their car pulls up outside the house.
She also knows when she is going in her crate.. I will tease her with a toy and get her to follow me upstairs, she will go as far as the bedroom door then sit down and wont budge. She gives me a look to say "Im not stupid you know". LOL!

You will see more things as Poppy gets older. Chachi and Jewels are 6. Some of this they have been doing for a while and some they just started. They dont like those crates do they lol?

Lexi orbits me whenever we go to the off leash park, she may stray to say hi to another dog but she mostly just runs circles around me.

If you have something she wants she starts rolling over.

When you give her a chew, she runs to the matt at the front door to eat it - every time. I think she might have a little bit of OCD, she used to religiously run a circle around the patio table before coming in from outside- but we have since moved it and she doesn't do it anymore.

When our doberman steals her toy she'll come running over to me and bark at me until I get it back for her.

Jennifer you have just reminded me of another thing Poppy does!
Because Poppy is going through potty training at the moment she gets lots and lots of praise when she pottys outside.
My schnauzer cross has been trained since we got her 10 years ago so there is no need for praise.. or so I thought!
It started just over a week ago, when Jess (schauzer cross) pottys in the garden Poppy will watch her closley and wag her tail, then she will run over and run around and around Jess in circles as if to say "Horayyy!! Good girl Jess!" :D LOL its so funny to watch her praise her.
So now Jess also gets praised. :)

Whenever I see a cute dog commercial or something on a TV show, I always say out loud, Oh how cute. Sammy comes up to me and barks like he's saying, I'm cuter Mom!!

I love these stories keep them coming I think this will be a fun thread

One more thing that I can't believe I forgot :)

Lexi watches T.V. She'll plop her butt in front of it and watch an entire movie with us.

We have a large LCD t.v and my boyfriend broke it last spring. He just got around to replacing it and as I'm setting it up Lexi is sitting in front of it (it didn't even have the plastic off yet). She just kept looking at the T.V. then back at me, then back at the T.V.

LOL I wish mine watched tv. Ive even put it on animal planet when dog shows were on to try to get them to watch it but they are unnaffected by the tv unless that comercial with the door bell comes on. They bark when they hear that

Grabbing the cat is so funny, lol, what did you think the first time so saw him do this? Funny about the ice cream truck, geez it was such a relief not to have kids screaming for one, and you have your dogs? Bet the ice cream man thinks your nuts.

Joey loves his bully sticks, and when I'm watching TV he wants me to hold the stick for him. He'll throw the stick on me, until I hold it. Lately holding it isn't enough. He likes it when I soften the tip in the microwave. I boil water and then stick the bully stick in the boiling water for about 30 seconds, and then cool it off. I can't remember how this started, but now he insists that his tip is softened. During the day, he'll chew the hard tip, but if I'm watching TV, he knows he can brutalize me into giving him a soft tip.

The first time she did it I thought she was trying to hump the cat but she wasnt. Shes did that before when one jumped up on the bed at bedtime because she dont like them on the bed so I quess she was showing dominance. We get at least one ice cream cone from the ice cream man and he knows us and knows our dogs do that so he gives us the dog cup for free which is great. That Joey is a spoiled one to only eat a bully thats been softened. That was a cute story

Joey's not really spoiled, at least he's not making me start chewing the stick to make it soft him. Oh dear, thank goodness for microwaves!

Funny little things Troy does:

1. When I'm leaving out for work he'll stand by the door waiting for me saying "I'm going with you. I'm not going in that crate."
2. I think Troy is scratching his back when he does this, but he'll walk along all the baseboards in the house. Rubbing and plopping down. Rubbing, running, then plop. It's funny to watch.
3. When my daughter is doing her homework (usually she's on the floor working) and Troy will sit his butt right on top of her books. Face says "No more homework, come play with me". He will try just about anything to get her attention. She usually will switch positions and let troy sit in her lap while she does her homework. It's cute.

There's more but those are the ones that stand out.

My yorkie puppy has caught onto everything my schnauzer does and we have only had him two weeks! They are smart little things :) Remy(yorkie) already knows I keep the treats on top of the refrigerator. He knows how to beg for water just because my schnauzer is obsessed with water. Winston (schnauzer) will beg and beg at the bathtub, sink, and even if I poor myself a glass of water. Now my yorkie puppy is learning to get excited when I get near the kitche ! They are too cute.

If I'm sitting on the floor playing with Zena, Zeus will tap my shoulder practically begging me to sit on the couch with him.

Zeus also likes to put his head down with his little bottom in the air begging me to rub his bootie.

Oh gosh... I'm going to have to think about this. Jackson does a lot of really funny things.

When we visit my dad's house with their 2 dogs, they all often want the SAME thing, either a bone, or a toy, etc. Sometimes, he will act like he sees something outside and start barking so all the dogs get up running and someone will let them out the door (into the backyard) but Jackson stays inside, and RUNS to the bone or toy that another dog was chewing and begins happily chewing it while the other two are outside barking their heads off at nothing. LOL.

Jackson knows WAY too many words. Like I can't even speak in regular conversation without him understanding much of what I am saying. Certain phrases and things, etc. Example, I call my grandma Maw Maw, so I can be talking to my mom and say "Oh, Maw Maw is coming over" and Jackson will go running to the front door looking for her. I can look at him and simply say "Emma (sister) is home" and he also goes looking for her. Things like that. He knows a lot of names, including those of his doggy friends, like Nala, Lily and Bandit, etc.

Jackson also watches TV often. It doesn't always have to even be other animals, but usually he's most interested in other dogs on TV. He will sit there and just watch, and follow it with his eyes. It keeps his focus for a good 5 minutes usually. He's trying to figure out how that dog got into the TV, LOL.

In agility class, he once (during off leash after class play time) ran into the tunnel to get away from another dog because he KNEW the dog refused to go into the tunnel, lol. This was in the early classes.

I get up realllllly early in the morning for work and Penny follows me about my morning routine. Sadie always stays in bed with her daddy. If i deviate from my routine just the slightest bit she will start barking.

Sadie always rolls onto her back and kicks her legs for long periods of time.

I cant say outside, hungry or daddy without a head tilt. They have recently associated the word laundry with outside because i have to go outside to get to my laundry room.

My husband calls me when he is on his way home and will talk until he pulls up in the driveway. I use to say Daddy's home, but, now they know when I hang up that phone he's here and they will line up waiting for him. Dudley will start to bark and look you right in the eye when its 10:00 p.m. because he wants to go to bed. Once we go to bed if anyone moves or turns over he growls. They all 4 are so smart its almost scarey. lol!!! Ours like to watch tv too.

lol. Tabby is a collector. I have to be very careful about what I leave around at her level, or where she can climb to. I've discovered her spot, under my bed, and found quite a few items I've been missing. This worries me a little, not knowing what she's sneaking off with, and I'm watching her all the time!

She's an early riser, and I'm not. She sleeps in a little plastic crate either next to or on the bed. She starts whining at 6 a.m., and I'll take her into the bathroom with me. I go, so she goes. Pretty quickly too actually. Easy to clean up the tile, and I plan on getting a potty of some sort for her, one of those tray things. Hope she picks that up quickly. After morning potty it's playtime. I think this is when she's collecting. She'll run around my bedroom (door shut), on and off the bed, roll around on the bed next to me, then want under the covers for an hour of snuggle time before I have to get up.

LOL to funny...Bella does the same thing I don't soften the chewie but she makes me hold it for her...she will almost throw it at me or drop it at my feet for me to hold while she chews.

She also growls and stops the cats Milo or Baby from using my sofa or the wood trim around our doors as scratch post...I guess watching me get on them :rolleyes:, now I don't have too Bella does it :D

She will hide her chewies as well...I bet she has 100 chewies hidden or buried inside and outside...she will dig a hole put the chewie in take her nose to cover it up and pack the dirt.

When we play tug a war, she will drop and roll like a gator I call it the death row LOL

oh oh and I sing the bad boy song to her...I use bad girl :D...bad girl bad girl watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do when I come for you...and she jumps from side to side barting at me like she telling "catch me if you can"

I love that pose, that's one of my favorite Yorkie poses!

Here are the oddities my Rhia does. :)

~Gets up on the couch to greet me when I come home since the couch is by the front door and I'll pet her first.
~Runs laps around the apartment or my parents' living room when she gets super hyper.
~Burrows her face and snorts into my comforter when we get ready for bed at night.
~Wedges herself between me and my giant stuffed cow I sleep with.
~Steals socks and underwear whenever she can find them. Haha. XD
~RUNS to the fridge if she hears a package of cheese coming out, but doesn't care about anything else!

Dinky kisses me on the nose anytime I ask for a "nose kiss."

Levi is a funny little monster.

He can jump up on my bed with no problem whatsoever...but sometimes he just doesn't want to put forth that effort. He will put his little paws up and wait for me to pick him up and put him on my bed.

He has woken me up in the middle of the night just STARING at me. When I finally wake up and look at him, he hops down off the bed, grabs a toy, and gives me this look like, "wanna play?" I've learned to make sure he gets plenty of exercise and try to play toys with him right before bed.

He is a licker and licks everything from my feet to my pillowcases. He also kisses on command. :rolleyes:

Uni will try to lay on our paperwork, laptop, my fabric, pretty much anything that is taking our time away from her. She will not allow bf to learn drums, she will bark as soon as she hears one thump.

At work she hangs out on the counter. There is one showcase that the glass is broken so I taped heavy plastic over it, and now it's her hammock. She hangs out up there most of the day. She will be playing with a toy, or a cowtail chew and she'll purposely toss it on the ground and give me a look that I know means "Slave! Pick that up!" and I do.

When she turns circles to do tricks she turns to the right. When she turns circles to pee, she turns left.

When I was fostering Katie, and we were going thru re-potty training her, whenever she had a mistake and I didn't see it, Uni would go and tattle on her.

Katie would steal Uni's toys, balls, and chews, but Uni was too much of a chicken to get them back. She would come cry to me. If I took it away from katie and gave it to Uni, Katie would just come right back and take it. Uni was a wimp against her. But they never fought, that was the great thing.

If I leave the shop for a few minutes, when I come back, I always see her waiting for me at the door with those big ears. :)

When it's cold she will NOT get out of bed. I guess she has a bladder of steel.

OMG!!! That is too funny cus my Yogi does the exact same thing!!!:p

As soon as Yogi feels that his daddy (my DH) is getting up he jumps on top of him and starts kissing away. Once he's done with the kisses he jumps off and runs to where his treats are like sayung " Daddy I gave you a whole bunch of kisses now give me a treat". Thats his way of getting my husband to give him treats! It's the cutest thing ever.

Whenever we go grocery shopping and get home Yogi will start going through the bags as soon as we put them down. He knows that there's always something in there for him so he starts looking for it.
