"She's 2lbs but is a little overweight"!!! ARGHHH!!!!! My daughther is a cashier and a lady came through her line with a Yorkie in a baby carrier. My daughter said we also have a Yorkie, and started asking age, weight, etc. and told the woman how adorable her puppy was. The woman said that she's not a puppy, she's an 18-month old "teacup"...she weighs 2lbs "but was supposed to be only 1.8 lbs, so she's a little overweight"!!!!!!! Disgusting. My daughter said she doesn't even remember Rocco being that small at 8 weeks...he wasn't. He was 2.9 lbs at 8 weeks. |
Wow. That is all I have right now. Wow. What is wrong with people. Selphie is almost 3 and almost 17 weeks. I can not imagine. Poor puppy. |
Thats sad she will probably put her on a diet also. I think people that want 1 lb dogs should just get a hamster |
 sometimes i just find i am lost for words :( love jill n poppy xx :aimeeyork |

I guess that makes Natalie at 5 lbs and Charlie at 10 lbs ALOT overweight. lol |
The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me! How can a dog that small survive? My Mabel is a whopper compared to that , she is around 9lbs, she seems little bitty to me! (although, Mabel is teapot material!!) It is just a shame that some people can't apprechiate this wonderful breed for their personality, spunk and all around greatness but instead of how miniscule they can breed them! Sickening!!:mad: It's like some sick, shallow status symbol! |
I've noticed that when people find out I have a yorkie the following question to follow is "How much does she weigh?" Amazing. Yeah, I would like her to stay on the small side, because it makes easier to transport via motorcycle, horseback, shopping...etc. Oh mine is 6 1/2 lbs. and she's 2 1/2 yrs old. Back in the spring she got up to 7 lb. she loves to walk so when the weather is nice during the summer we WALK. Love her no matter. |
I tell people Hammer is 13 lbs and I get a strange look. I get asked EVERYTIME if he even his a yorkie, cause of his dark hair and large size. I love my HEALTHY, hearty teapot! |

I worry with Jesse at 3lbs, I cannot imagine having a full grown yorkie weighing just 2lbs, let alone less then that, my nerves would be shot. Very sad. |
Thats disgusting. Poppy is 5 1/2 months old and around 5lbs, shes hardly big either so god knows how small this little one is! |
Wow. Just wow. That much stupidity makes me sick. |
I hope your daughter told that woman a thing or three. How sad for that tiny baby. I'll bet it's going hungry over her stupidity!!!! My neighbor has a two pound Yorkie named Minnie Mouse, but not because she's on a diet for sure. Minnie is a few years old too. She's such a house mouse. |

wow - people like that shouldn't be aloud to have pets when they don't even understand how to take care of them properly : | and at 18 months and saying shes over weight shes still growing and needs all the nutrients she can get. poor thing breaks my heart to hear how people can do that to their pet. my girl is about 3 1/2 months and at arounds 2 lbs - couldnt imagine her any smaller. like the post about getting a hamster - seriously if you 1 lb yorkie - its a heart break waiting to happen. grrrrr some people :@ |
Wow, it's amazing she didn't rehome her. :mad:Obviously a defective doggie. |
That is so sad. When I was a kid I had a miniature chihuahua. Full grown, Ginger weighed just under 3 lbs(she was the "runt" of the litter). She got sick, and it only took that one time. She was so small, and when they're that small, they can't afford to lose any weight being sick. |
Well I guess Roxie would be a real porker at 6 lbs..lol..Some people are just so ignorant! |
OMG, thats just CRAZY!!!!!! first thought was.....does she have her on a diet?....People like that, have a yorkie, just to say they have one...as other posters said..like it is a purse or accessory...so sad...poor baby |
Yes, crazy it is. Mine should be around 5 1/2-6 pounds and I think that is perfect! Pshhh she is almost 3 pounds now. Her full grown is smaller than my puppy! |
Poor baby; there's a difference between overweight and oversized!!! 2# is UNDERsized mind you.... Echoing Mary, if I may; Teacups come with saucers not tails! :p |
:aimeeyorkIf they are happy I am happy! |
Mine are 12 lbs and 6 1/2 pounds...I'd love them no matter what their size. :aimeeyork |
That really is sick. That poor baby! People like that only get a yorkie because celebrities like Paris Hilton tote one around in their bags and they think it's cute, and completely forget about the fact that it is a living thing, not a freaking fashion accessory! They forget about the fact that when those celebrities go home they throw the dog to a personal assistant of some sort and forget about it, which is no way to treat a pet! Ugh! I could rant all day about this. That's like when moms these days start their eight year old daughters on diets and such! How messed up! |

I know of people that brag about how tiny their tea cup Chihuahua or Yorkie is and how they are just so caught up with the size. Then you find out they only feed the dog 2 teaspoons of food a day! That is animal cruelty and it makes me sick. I have a runt chihuahua and she technically should weigh 2 1/2 lbs to be her perfect size. I feed her well and she gets what all my regular guys get. Generally little Possum is touching close to 3lbs. That is a tiny bit chubby for her but I refuse to starve my dog just so I can try to impress people with her size. It reminds me of people that put their little girls in Pageants when they are six months old and say they do it because the little girls wanted it so bad. STRANGE:cool: |
My Lucky is not quite 10 lbs.....and I've held these so called teacup Yorkies and all you can feel are just the bones!!! God help them if they ever jump too high or play too hard....or worst, get sick!! I think I will stick with my so called fat Yorkie.....as others have referred to him.....I just say he isn't fat he is fluffy!!! lol I don't know who to pity more...the little furbaby or the adult that has no common sense!! |
Being ignorant is just a state of mind and being for some people. Darwin is 7 lbs 12 oz and 20 months. Mabel is 3 lbs and 5 1/2 months. Both are free fed, are at a great weight and seem very healthy and active. I can't imagine starving these two sweeties - someone said it right - fashion accessories instead of dogs. |
