I'm a wreck with nerves Chloe is being spayed right now at the vets and she is getting her puppy teeth pulled to. I just feel sick with worry after reading a post about another pup having a heart attack from being put under. I did have the pre-blood test done on her. I know I won't feel better until she's back in my arms. Then I have to keep the others away from her while she is recovering. I bought a few onesie and a kiss e collar for her. Any advise about how long I should keep them apart. |

My thoughts and prayers are with her. I feel horrible with I research an ailment that my Khloe has and the worst of the worst pops up. I know that you are worried about your baby, but try not to too much. I tend to worry myself into total exhaustion, to the point that my energy is burned up when my kids/dog needs me. Keep us posted and let us know how she is doing. |
I'd keep them separated until she acting totally back to normal, at least a week, maybe two. If they play hard together normally > two. You don't want her to be making any quick moves that may adversely affect her surgery. Definitely discuss this with your vet when you pick her up... Also, a quick wipe with a pet wipe to help get the hospital smell off her may help. Keeping you all in my prayers... |
I feel that way every time I have an animal spay or neutered. The chances of anything bad happening are very slim so try to relax |
I know how you feel I was the same with Brandi. I was a nervous wreck. When she got home she was very groggy and slept the first day. The second day she was moving around a lot more but still was a little unsteady. By the 3rd day, forget, I couldn't keep her still. I had to crate her and even then she wouldn't keep still. She was back to normal The only thing I couldn't do was give her a bath for like 10 days and boy did she need it so I just use some baby wipes until I was able to give her a bath. Hopefully your baby will be fine. |
Its hard after you read that post - but you did do the pre blood work - so I'm sure that everything will be fine. I know..............you won't feel better till you see her for yourself. |

It's hard not to worry while they are away from you. But you've done all the right prep work ( picked your vet carefully, pre-op blood tests, anesthesia protocols, etc). If a dog is healthy, the odds of them having something go wrong like in the other post is very, very rare. But I'm like you; I don't relax until my babies are back home. |
So sorry you are feeling this way. I think we all go through this. Just try to keep busy and it will be over before you know it. I would just wait till she is actin like herself. |
Try not to worry! I dropped all three of mine off and didn't think about it until they called to say that they were ready to go home. It's out of our hands once we drop them off and losing control is always hard. I will never be afraid of medicine despite the risks because vets have saved my dogs lives and are important to their overall well being. Just be ready to take care of your little groggy one when it's time for her to come home :) |

I read that post also and it started me worrying. My puppy is going to be neutered next month and I can't tell you how often I thought about canceling but I keep thinking how much better it will be for Zach. So I know how you feel. |
Mabel's going to be spayed on November 15, she will be six months. We had the blood work done also but I still can't help but be nervous. How old is your girl? Good luck and let us know how things go! |
