| ![]() Hello Friends!! My name is Megan and I live in Cincinnati, OH. Let me explain how I came across this YorkieTalk forums. About 2 weeks ago, my family and I went on a vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. We took my precious Yorkie, Macy, with us. She did awesome the whole road trip and she loved every minute of it!! ![]() Sunday morning at about 1:20 a.m. (and had been up all that morning til maybe 1 p.m.), she woke me up because she couldn't breathe and couldn't lay back down. I got really worried and had to wake my parents up. We weren't sure if it was the air because we stayed up in the mountains or if something was seriously wrong. She got worse and we took her to emergency vet right away. We had to drive 1 hour away to Knoxville because that was the closet emergency vet we could find. The vet came in and said that it was cancer. I wouldn't believe it was cancer because she was just fine the day before. Luckily we asked for 2nd opinion and the other vet came in. He did all the tests again and told us it was tracheal collapse. Thank you, God, that it wasn't cancer. On our way back home to Cincinnati, we gave her pills to help her calm during the whole road trip. She did good, but that whole week, she wasn't doing very well. We took her to our vet and he gave her more medicines. All while she was sick, I did a lot of reasearching on the internet to learn more about tracheal collapse. That is how I came across this forums and knew I had to sign up!! ![]() Now she is doing much, much better. Playing. Eating. Sleeping. Drinking. ![]() Macy is my best friend and I don't know what I'd do without her. In case you're wondering... why is Sassy in my user name? She's my first dog we've had and she was a daschund. She died from cancer a few years ago. She was my best friend too. Here is a picture of Macy and I. ![]() I am so sorry this introduction post is so long! I promise my next posts won't be this long!! lol. ![]() Looking forward to meet all you and your Yorkies! Megan & Macy

| ![]() Macy is a cutie! Glad to hear that she's better. If you search old threads you wil find lots and lots of information on collapsed trachias. Yorkies seem to be prone to them. Hope she continues to get better!

| ![]() Macy is adorable. It's wonderful she is doing better. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm sure it was very frightening. Be sure to never walk her with a collar and always use a harness to protect her trachea. Sending the best to you and Macy. ![]()

| ![]() Megan, you never have to apologize for having long posts! This is where you come to get support and we want to know everything that's going on! I'm so glad Macy is doing better, please keep us informed! My biggest fear is having my little furbabies get sick! I thank God everynight that they get through the day fine! She's beautiful by the way! Do you only have her now? Let us know how she's doing!
