I have helped many homeless people by buying them food... I know better than to give them money, but I think food and water is the least you can do. |
We don't see homeless people here but on odd occasions. I would def give food for dogs. I remember a homeless woman here once. They set her up in an apt and she stayed like a few months and moved back out. She preferred to be homeless! She did have income - she received a check every month. |
I feel blessed to have everything I have and the ability to take good care of my babies. If I can help someone out with food or a little money, then I will. You are being kind to both the man and the dog by giving him the food. Who cares what the people in the store think! |
I help homeless people...with or without a pet for no other reason that it's the right thing to do. It is not up to me to decide they're just being a lazy bum or truly amongst the disenfranchised through no fault of their own. Yeah, sometimes they make a good living at it, ripping off people and at the end of the day get in that nice car; however, without all their background who am I to decide their state of need? I'd rather help ten con artists knowing that maybe the eleventh was someone truly in need. There but by the Grace of God go I...and you...and you... |
I grew up and have lived in places where I never really saw homeless people. When I visited relatives in Toronto, my first big city, at the age of 13 and saw homelessness I felt terribly so sad. Homelessness shouldn't exist in countries such as Canada and America, and to see homeless people with pets, I don't think I could walk past and see an animal in such need, and not do something if I am able. they are dependent on people, they have no choices, except what they are given. |

That's what makes me feel so bad for them. The girl with homeless guy looked kinda depressed.... I offered him vet care again today, but he declined it again... So I gave him dewormer and heartgard + advantix instead(He never vet checked her for anything...). I am so glad that I am able to give better care for my babies and hope that there's something I can do for those babies who are so fortunate enough to get basic care from their owners. |
Yes, I would give dog food to this person. In fact, our church just collected dog and cat food this week, for this exact reason, which will be given out to those that need it at our local free food bank. |
Ohh...I guess I am a sucker, cause I always buy food and pet food for homeless people and their dogs...Never money, but I always give whatever food I can. I cant help it, I am a firm believer in Kharma..lol.. |
I would help if I'm capable, there's nothing wrong about helping others. |
Where I live, it's illegal ("panhandling") but we still do it. When we lived in Houston, Texas there were several homeless that we saw but one lady in particular that stood out to us....she broke my heart!! It was getting cold in the evenings so we went to buy her a sweatshirt, heavy socks, new tennis shoes (had to guess her size), sweatpants and some other things. My husband parked and walked under the bridge (it was under a major highway).....she started screaming at him. :( Makes me tear up just thinking about it....feel so sad for her!!!! So my husband just set the bags down for her and walked away. She ran to get them, picked them up still running and yelling at him then threw them in a drainage hole next to the road. So, I guess she never got to ues these things and this is okay....we just wanted to try. We still saw her from time-to-time and never with the other group of homeless people....she was always by herself. She wore a huge, heavy, thick wool type of sack and she was such a mess. She looked like she was an attractive woman and young (40's). My heart always went out to her and wondered if she just needed medication, but no one would even be able to help her because she seemed to avoid other people. I won't give to just anyone standing and holding a sign for food or work, but there is a man here that we have given food to. He looks like he DESPERATELY needs help! My heart aches for him.... We will go through a fast food restaurant and get him food and water. He has a difficult time talking but he ALWAYS thanks my husband and ALWAYS makes a point to look directly into my eyes and says, "Thank you so much ma'am!!" He is VERY thankful and he definitely needs the help. I want to help him because he does need it and it is VERY, VERY obvious. I haven't seen him for a couple of months and I do worry about him. *sigh*....... |
Oh sorry....I didn't answer your question. Yes, I most definitely would buy dog food for their pet. They deserve companionship as much as the rest of us and if it helps to allow this, then most definitely would give their dog food as well. |
I once gave my birthday cake to a homeless couple. I was walking down the street with my cake in a box and this couple were just so pathetic; ragged clothes, missing teeth - they didn't ask me for a thing but they said "Oh is it your birthday? Happy Birthday Missus." So I gave them my cake. They were so THRILLED - couldn't get it open fast enough to start shoving it in their mouths. Best birthday cake I ever didn't eat!! :) |

I would do it! Everyone gets down on their luck at some point in their life, and I love to help out. I think it's commendable if a homeless person still keeps their dog.... because many won't, or a homeless shelter won't accept pets, etc. I know I could never leave my dog either and if someone was willing to buy him food, I would be forever grateful. I realize a lot of people out there are just lazy and take advantage but it shouldn't take away from the folks who truly need it so I can just hope they're being honest and really truly are homeless and need the help, and I am GLAD to give them food or whatever they need! |
