Ewwwwwww Okay i'm totally disgusted!! Bentley is still eating his poop!!!!!!! I don't understand!!!! He only does it if he goes in the house, but it is so nasty!! Does anyone know how to stop this?? |
My pom did that when I got her 8 years ago. The vet gave me a powder to mix with her food and it makes their poop taste or smell bad. It worked but I heard meat tenderizer will do the same. SHe finally grew out of it after she was 4 months old and i could stop using the powder. |
Have you tried Charcoal biscuits... I heard that those work |

what are those?? |
Maybe he is trying to hide the poop before gettng in trouble. I think you can add pineapple to his food or deter. You can check for other ideas here http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=pineapple Good luck. |
Im sorry im no Help. Mine has never did this. |
I recently saw an item in the Doctors Foster & Smith catalog that you add to their food. My Bentley occasionally likes to get "treats" from the cats litter box...I was looking for something to make him stop that, but he never eats his own. Marie may be on to something w/ the hiding it... |
I read that dogs eat thier poop because they can smell the protien in it. For some reason certain dog foods do not digest all the protien properly and so its comes out in the poop, the dogs smell it, and then eat it. I don't know if its true or not, but maybe its his food. HAve you changed it recently?? |
Mine eats goose poop. Thank God they've finally all headed south. ---> |
mine too moose still eats her poop sometimes too. I have been giveing her the deter tablets but she still hasn't stopped 100% and shes 9 olmost 10 months old. So I would love to hear some ideas too. |
yes lexi still does it at 7 months old... yuckie, . she make poopie on her pad and then picks it up to go elsewhere to eat it cause i find it sometimes in the living room and or in my bedroom... thank god its hard poopie... |
I think he's doing it to get rid of the evidence, especially if he knows he's going to get reprimanded. |

Remmy did eat his poop when he was younger... I do think he knew that I was going to give him the "bad boy" talk and so he would eat his poop. But as he got older and better potty trained he quit doing this. |
Well for moose I don't yell at her. I tell her to leave it and that mommy doesn't like poopy kisses, but I will still catch her at times making off with some  |
Oh Yucky!!!! I hope you find something to make him stop. Good Luck!!!! :) |
My pretty little girl Mercedes does this exact same disgusting act! YUCK! |
Eating poop is natural -- they usually give it up eventually but if it really disgusts you add a little meat tenderizer to their food. JMO but I believe they eat undigested food -- I notice if I feed carrots or something that you can see when they poop it out -- someone gobbles us the poop. My 3 have stopped this habit but I noticed when I added that Iams gravy to their food -- they were outside gobbling it up. |

:D YOU FUNNY!!! I tried Deter with Dublin and either it worked or he grew out of it... One of my other dogs liked poo, and I tried meat tenderizer and pineapple to no avail. EWWWW!! |

My girlfriend lives on a pond, and has two goldens that are into the goose poo all the time... She calls it 'goose pate' !! |
Susan will do this if allowed. She also eats rabbit poop. There's an AMAZING amount of rabbit poop in the yard. I would never have noticed it in a million years, but they have favorite little places they like to leave piles. I guess Susan has found them all. When I told my husband all he said was, "That's great! Don't let her eat it. The soil out here needs the organic matter." |
Thanks for all the responses!!! |
charcoal buscuits You can usually get them at a pet store not sure exactly what is in them but I have heard they really work. My friend uses them and she said that her dog isn't eating her poop anymore. |

Just kidding. I've actually thought of spraying them with green apple, but there are hundreds and hundreds of them in the park I take him too. And even thought they are now frozen, he STILL digs down and eats them like popsicles. It's a big game when I chase him. |
Yup, Isabella eats the poopie also!! I asked the Vet about it, he said he could give something to put in her food. Well that means all 3 would have to eat it cause she eats poop, not just hers. Well I'm thinking the Iams gravy also. I stopped the Iams gravy a week ago & noticed she hasn't been eating poop lately. I don't know all I know is that it is gross!! Disgusting!!!! I hope I am right & she stopped. |
