You need to pretty much puppy proof an area and keep them in that one area, like maybe the kitchen. I still have to watch mine like a hawk and he is 2 years old. He just likes to chew and puts everything in his mouth. Dryer sheets are very bad for them and even though I try to watch, he will occassionally snag one and run like "HELL". |
Nothing works, you just need to keep them in their x-pen and walk them for a long time (if they have all there shots) till there tired. It will be over, but make sure you give them a loud NO or use a can with pennies to get their attention. If you laugh it off they will think it's ok. I just remember I bought an motorised rat at walmart to keep them busy. :D |
I remember when LOL Just like baby proofing the house with our skin kids. Wall socket covers helped, PVC piping (find at Lowes, bendable too) on any and all electrical cords, hard plastic corner end caps with chewing the corners on walls and wood, dang Shelby would love to chew on all the above. I also used bitter apple with success to a point, then I tried stick deodorant and that worked even better. Redirecting to chew on kongs really helped with frozen goodies stuffed inside to work on for her. Puppy proofing ahh those were the days  Anne |
Thanks guys! I am definitely goint to try the apple spray AND stick deoderant. These cute little faces are not going to stop me:D Zekie's mom~that describes Jax perfectly....snags a dryer sheet and runs for the bed! |
P.S. We have a new one....chapstick! Ugh! |
They still love my bottles of Systane eye drops if i dont watch where i put them down at. Shelby still rips through beds, defuzzies all her stuff animals and toys. I come home in the morning working nights and start picking up clumps of stuffing from the kitchen door throughout the house LOL:p |
I don't have a problem with my Yorkie but my Basset Hounds are impossible. So far they've chewed the cable wire, the air conditioner wire, my friend's jukebox wire, the wire from the heater, a dozen or more pillows. So far they haven't chewed any furniture or the walls, but they have to have nine lives because they keep chewing on wires which are plugged into the walls. |
Wires scare me too! I hide them all and usually unplug them too when I am not using them. It worries me to death! Well last night I was cleaning up a shredded napkin under my bed, courtesy of Jax, and found a huge suprise.....my bedframe corners are chewed up:( These lil' turkies! |

I really haven't had much problem with mine chewing stuff because I am home all day....well until I got my Biewer and she tore the wallpaper off my wall and put a hole in the sheetrock. Everyone told me there where different but never expected that.. hahaha Good thing hubby is a pretty good handyman. |
So it's a Biewer thing? Quote:
I'm home all day except a couple of hours a day or two a week, yet Nicky still gets into things. If I'm busy cooking or something and I don't pay much attention to him, he throws a hissy fit and goes looking for something to tear apart. If I knew how to upload videos, I would show you how he throws a tantrum. His daddy says it's my fault because everything that little boy does, tickles me pink :D:laugh: |
Ziva tore into the bottom of the boxspring and crawled up inside, we have closed off all bedrooms since. She ruined one antique cabinet when my husband left her in the dining room and took a 2+ hour nap. Keep them tired and never alone! |
