Charlie is more pickier than that. He picks out his least favorite ones, puts them on the floor and gets his favorite ones and drops them in a different pile, then eats the favorite ones and then eats his least favorite ones. He spends more time picking them out than he does eating it seems like. Natalie gets a mouth full, runs away from the bowl, drops them and then eats them and runs back. They are too funny!!! |
I have found that my little guys do not want to eat alone. They want me standing over them so they would eat. Honestly, if I am not in the same room while I put down their food - they won't eat. It just goes to show how social these dogs are - they want company while they eat. |
Freddy does the same thing...he takes a couple of kibbles in his mouth to the living room and eats them there...the only time he eats directly out of his bowl is when i am in the kitchen with him. I believe he doesn't even touch his food when i am at work...What's funny is that sometimes he is goes around the living room sniffing around, which i thought was a sign that he needs to go but realized that most of the time it is because he is looking for his food. this morning i found a treat in my shoe...i guess he wanted to save it for later :) |
My Taycie does same thing! She will throw it in the air, growl at it, bark at it, paw at it, then finally eat it! It is the cutest thing! I love it! It's one of my favorite things about a yorkie:) |
A.J. (the one in red) picks out the ones she does not want and puts them by the bowl, then takes the one she does want and carries it over to the potty pad:rolleyes: and proceeds to eat it. Now Emma (the one in pink) likes the tiny ones that A.J. does not eat and picks them up off the floor and comes and sits by my feet wherever I am and eats it. Funniest thing them eating like that. Neither eats at the bowl. My newest one, Karma, eats at the bowl and the other two look at her like she is the one that is nutty:p |
My friend's poodle does this but she said it's because he's scared of his bowl  She's tried taking his tag off while he eats because she thinks the noise his tag makes when hitting the bowl scares him..she said it's fairly common. Perhaps it's that? |

Ziva waits til the big dog finishes her food and comes to check out what Ziva has left- than Ziva gets a chance to growl and fuss at her for a good reason, Than she will eat while someone stands nearby and "protects" her.Craziness...what we will do! |
Hahahahaha.... i thought my guy was the only nut that did this. His style is he has to pick up a piece, walk 1 ft away and eats it. The whole time standing there watching us eat our snack/supper. LOL. The other thing I've noticed, he chooses to eat anywhere from 3pm-6pm. Never snacks in the am or later in the evening. It's that specific time frame. He's wierd, but we love him. :) Beth & Taylor |
Shallow dishes Quote:
We suspected that she just didn't like sticking her face "into" a bowl. So we got her the most shallow food & water dishes we could find. Problem solved. Maybe it is instinct, to be able to see what is going on at all times, even while eating....maybe she was afraid her sister was going to take her food away from her !!! No telling, but the shallow dishes worked for us. |

Well, I got my puppy yesterday and she also does this lol. She has no problem getting the food from the bowl, but then she puts it on the floor and eats it from there. She's also really obsessed with mirrors (vain, maybe? Ha) and likes to sleep in between my DVD and TV remote. So I have a weird one lol but so am I so we go well together :p |
Mine do the same thing. I call it "hit and run" as they seem to snatch a kibble or two and then go leisurely lay down and eat it somewhere else. They seem to like to put it on a rug too. I put their food dish on a mat but they didn't think that was good enough. Still have to take it across the room or to the next room to eat it. |
??? This is too funny !!! My furbabies also do the same, walk to bowl take food and drop it some where else to eat:cool:. Sometime on the carpet and other times on the floor, u see me picking it up and throwing it away after a day or so if they don't eat it all. I just don't like food on the floor:eek:, so I don't understand this behavior. But I guess alot of yorkies do this. bark@ulater!!!!! manina, miley:aimeeyorkmax:aimeeyork |
