I'm so glad Teddy found you! Thank you for rescuing him and nursing him back to health. Poor baby. |
You are surely his Angel!!!! He is lucky to have you. Keep all of us up dated on this sweet baby. |
Thank you so much everyone! After some very much needed TLC and GOOD food he has perked up a little today and is responding when I talk to him. Its a good start and I'm hoping will continue. I will post updates whenever I can. Alicia |

Really, not many people would commit to taking a little guy like Teddy. You truly are an angel for him. :lovewings With most of his teeth missing and it looking like he hasn't been to a vet in who knows how long, outside of your friend taking him, he could have a sore mouth and it might just be best to keep him on wet, or canned food. I'd also try several meals a day. If you work, you could feed him in the am, again upon returning home and another later in the evening. I'd also supplement his diet with a fish oil capsule, if he will take it or eat it on his food, as it will benefit is skin, joints and heart. I'm guessing he could be a bit older than was estimated. Many vets try treating a condition with antibiotics first, it seems, then start looking at other problems. Your vet might want to do more tests and if your friend didn't have bloodwork done, it would certainly be worth doing. Also, until he is healthy, say NO to immunizations of any kind. You can assure your vet you will get them done when his health is better, but his tiny little system doesn't need that stress right now. He is so lucky to have you and I'm betting you're going to feel blessed to have him! |
he is beautiful! thank you so much for taking this little baby in! |
What a precious little baby Teddy is and bless you for caring enough to take him in. May he find all the love that he was meant to have. Keep us informed about his progress. |
3 Attachment(s) Here are a couple more pics. 1st one all snug soaking up the love, 2nd hanging out watching the computer, 3rd instead of using a kennel I got this for his bed. He is now panicking if I go in another room without him so I carry him with me everywhere. He is eating and drinking great. I'll update more when I can. He looks better already. How sweet that he wants to be with you all the time. Wish everyone who had a pet was worthy of that trust. |
I am so very glad to see these new pictures of your little guy. He looks so very comfortable, content, and most of all......very loved!! Please keep the updates coming. God bless you!! |
Teddy is precious! He sure looks like a happy little camper. |
He looks so good! He looks like he has a silky coat, too. What a little love and food can do! I wonder if he has cataracts? If so, can you have them removed so he can see again? I will be watching for updates. Really love to keep an eye on this little guy! |
I took him in today and I had already suspected that he is pretty ill and a long recovery ahead but I never imagined so much is wrong with the poor little guy. He thinks Teddy is actually over 10yrs old, no where near 6 or 7. He does have cataracts in both eyes with minimal vision. What teeth he does have left, most will need to be extracted because of breakage and tartar. His gums are in very bad shape. His skin is in pretty bad shape from the fleas, quite a bit of hair loss. He has LP in both legs that only surgery would help but not guaranteed. He has a heart murmur. He thinks the coughing is from a collapsing trachea, not kennel cough. He is emaciated but a positive is he has gained weight since I got him. He is almost 3lbs now but his poor bones are still protruding pretty badly. He wants me to get him started on a seniors food which I need to research to find whats best. He told me the nat balance l.i.d was ok until I find what I want to change him to. I like the brand i'm using so i'm hoping it has senior's. He went ahead and started him on clavamox and hydrocodone cough syrup because he did hear some congestion/wheezing so he thinks theres an underlying pulmonary problem. He wants me to keep him quiet with no activity which won't be hard because he is sleeping pretty much most of the time. We are going to do blood work and xrays the end of the week or first of next week. The poor little guy got so stressed today while we were there but was much calmer by the time we got home. I feel like i'm leaving something out. I will post if I remember anything else. He has been eating twice a day until full, drinking several times a day. I am going to increase it to 3-4x a day. I feel it's going to be an overwhelming time but I want to do what I can so he can live the rest of his life loved and hopefully healthy or at least healthier. Alicia |
I'm so sorry your little guy is so sick. I'm glad to hear that he is eating well and gaining some weight. He is so lucky to have found you. God bless you. I will continue to keep him and you in my prayers. Please keep us posted. |
God bless you for taking this little angel in. He is just precious! |
