Akc/ckc 1 Attachment(s) Ok I have a question. My little Happy is AKC/CKC regiterable. I just registered her online with AKC and got her pedigree as well. Is it important for me to process her CKC registration as well. From what I have read mostly everyone prefers AKC registration and CKC usually doesn't mean much???? Not sure if I worded that right. P.S. In now way am I trying to offend anyone. Just want to put that out there. I have just read that just about anyone can register a dog CKC but only pups of parents who are both AKC can be registered with that org. |
Canadian Kennel Club or Continental Kennel Club? |
Continental Kennel Club |
I don't want to offend anyone either, but I'd only go with the AKC. I sold a non-papered Yorkie pup to someone and she sent pictures to CKC and they actually registered the dog. The dog was a purebred, but CKC had no way of knowing that...no info on parents. We all know a pup can be a mix of 2 different full-blooded breeds and come out looking like one or the other. If that pup I sold was actually mixed (though looked full-blooded), she could have bred it to an AKC male Yorkie and ended up with mixed breed pups. |
There are two CKC's. I would do both AKC & CKC if you are going to Breed, If not hmmmm, I would probably get both anyway just to have. :D |
Ok, thanks guys. And also she included paperwork to register with Canadian Kennel Club. Should I do this one as well? Sorry so many questions  |
Who is the breeder of your dog ? |

Canadian Kennel Club has strict rules like the AKC. You can't just register anything by sending a picture. |
i want dollar to be akc...how do I do that? i know that he is CKC....but what if i want him to be AKC? |
If his parents aren't both AKC, he can never be AKC. AKC can be double registered with CKC, but not visa versa. |
aca? WHAT IS ACA? |
I think the most important thing that should be considered when looking for a pup is the breeder, regardless of if the puppy is AKC or CKC registerable. It would be just as easy for you to be sold a not-pure-bred dog that is AKC as it would to be sold a not-pure-bred-dog that is CKC. Aquiring papers for a pup depends on who the breeder reports the parents to be. For example, if I had an AKC registered female and male and a CKC or non-registered male. Which kennel club would be able to determine that the 2 ACK dogs were really the parents? What would stop someone from breeding the AKC female and the non-registered male, but claiming the pups were from AKC parents? Does that make sense. I think you really have to put alot of trust in the breeder--that piece of paper, regardless of the kennel club, is only as good as ANY breeder says it is. |
Aca? ok what is ACA? Is this good or not good? I have Dollar registered there. American Canine Assocation....is this like AKC at all? |
The breeder was a hobby breeder in OH. Her and her husband only have a litter once every other year. She offered me paperwork for all 3 and sent the paperwork today so I was wondering if I should just worry about the one or just go ahead and register with all 3. Thanks for everyone's advice. Kinda new with the whole registration thing. ;) |
With the Canadian Kennel Club , you will never be accepted . They have very strict rules concerning registration . |

I was going to add something along this line also. I got ripped off on my first male Yorkie and never got his papers (that is why my pups were sold with no papers as I mentioned above). Anyway, I ran into a girl that bred Boxers and I told her how I got ripped off and had no papers for my male. She actually said to me "Do you know anyone else that would let you use their Yorkie's AKC information?" I couldn't believe it. I said that I would NEVER do that and she said she and others that she knows does it all the time. |
Probably not. Looking over the paperwork, only think I need is the certified 3 generation pedigree (already ordered). But wow, that's a lot of paperwork. I just feel lucky to have my baby no matter what. The AKC papers to me are just a bonus. With or without her papers she's priceless to me, as I'm sure everyone else's are to them. Thanks guys for all the info and help. |
Wow @ Julz. That's crazy! If someone tried/attempted to use my dog's info that way you bet your butt I'd be taking someone to court. That's outrageous that people actually attempt/do these sorts of things. |
I know! My gosh, the only way I'd ever use someone's AKC info. is if I bred my dog with THEIR DOG! I would never, and couldn't even imagine asking someone for their males AKC numbers and info. to falsely send in with a litter registration :thumbdown :thumbdown I mean, how could you even approach someone for this...."Um....hey.....uh, I was wondering.....and I know I didn't pay you for stud service or anything, but uh....could you give me the numbers off of your AKC paperwork to send in with my litter registration?" |

They are risking loosing their breeding registration rights with AKC using someone else's information. With AKC you are agreeing to be spot checked whenever they want to check records and if they want DNA testing - and it better come out okay! That is a Big No No to lie on papers! Now people that get pups or down the road great-granddogs later - these people will not know whose lines their dogs from. What is a pedigree worth if people lie on their papers? T. |
Exactly :thumbdown :thumbdown |
