Thanks. I do worry about the opossums though. Last year when Ally was a baby, I had the whole family take up house underneath my tiki deck. You could hear them mating (I guess that's what they were doing???) and saw three just stroll across the yard. I have boarded the yard better, but now they are digging to get in. I let the babies out to potty late at night and I don't want them to get hurt because they want to hunt. Ally caught it's scent from the other side of the yard and went running. At 3 lbs, she has an excellent nose and a wanna-be BIG HUNTER attitude. |
Sissy is great at hunting. She has caught 2 moles so far this summer. She is so funny, you should see her after them. |

What a great thread you started here Tammy, so nice to hear other Yorkie owners amuzing tales of their fab little Terriers, still got that hunting instinct. Kiki is now learning from my other two, not to allow next doors cats into HER garden, or birds flying over their air space for that matter. She barks like the billyoh when these oh so laid back cats walk past the garden gate. They just look back with an expression of YEH and what are you going to do TITCH. (These cats are the size of my Westie nearly, which is 5 times the size of little Kiki). Yorkie's may only be of the Toy variety but boy do they have a big personality:thumbup: |
The instinct is alive and well in my bunch. Last Thanksgiving I had smoked a turkey out back. The next morning I opened the door to let the dogs out and, no sooner than I closed the door than all hell broke loose outside. I opened the door to see what the commotion was and they had the neighbor's cat down and were ripping at it from all sides. It was a Yorkie frenzy! I rushed over to get them off and it took some doing as they didn't want to give it up. The poor cat had already given up the fight and was lying there in prey mode, just waiting for the end to come. It took me hollering for my wife and having her shoo them in as I hovered over the cat but they finally gave it up. The cat was not really injured but it took him a good few minutes to realize he was alive, I think. He just laiy there in a daze and finally got up and over the fence. The cat learnd a good lesson that day that the smell of meat wasn't worth checking out in our yard!! |

mice I would do just about anything to keep my babies away from mice.I love those doggy kisses so much but wouldn't if i find them with a mouse.Yuck:eek: |
