GOing to try this one...hee-hee:D |
Just because someone says something... ...doesn't mean it's true. I wouldn't even give someone as brazenly rude as the one you described the respect to stand there and listen to what she had to say. However, if I found myself confronted by such a person and couldn't escape, I do like the "parting shot" - "You know, if there was a human standard and your parents had been required to meet that standard prior to breeding, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Consider yourself lucky, Have a nice day!" |

Love that comeback:):) |
I'm a New Yorker also and I would have said "You're not perfect do you think your parents should have gotten a full refund for you" Among alot of other choice things. |
Guys, it's no better if they are small! I'm getting pretty tired of the 'rat comment'. "That dog is nothing but a big rat". "Say, is that a teacup?" My girlfriends brothers cousins breeds teacups so I know all about them." "Im pretty sure your dog is a teacup" . . . ."It IS a breed. My sisters uncles cousins daughter has one" . . . . |

Personally, I would have told her she must not have been very good at being a judge if she thought only smaller yorkies meet the standard. ETA: I am the type who would have no problem saying to someone something along the lines of "thank goodness we don't require humans to be bred to standard". |

Yes, ma'am it does! :) :) |
LOL, love this thread! I can barely take Catherine anywhere without someone saying "Oh, is she a teacup?" and that inevitably leads to the "there is no such thing as a teacup" conversation. And the person (who doesn't know any better) was just making a remark that she's cute and small, but I go off about irresponsible breeders and end up looking like the crazy dog lady. :) |

sorry, you went through that, even though you told her off royally, it still is upsetting. I suspect i will be going through this soon enough. i am picking up my chocolate yorkie today. Chocolate yorkies, like me, have a double recessive gene. which makes the "black" section on their back, brown. and their nose, paws and eye rims are pink. their eyes are light also. typical red head. though i got ripped off with the eye colour thing..:(, you must write me and give me swearing tips lol |

Maybe a new version of the Yorkietalk.com business card is in order. Along with the website address could be the breed standard along with "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP YORKIE". |

When someone shares their opinion with me (one I did not asked for) I usually reply by saying, "They say negative people tend to share opinions that were never asked for." It's been a good way to get the point across as well as keep my cool. Some people though... thanks for venting :) |
I'm not a New Yorker, I'm a New Yorkie! (jk) But wow!! I'm insulted, because my yorkie doesn't meet breed standards (your yorkie does) My yorkie is the wrong weight and color (10 Lbs, silver and gold) So I'm also insulted by this!! Normal yorkies weigh 7 pounds! Yorkies first weighed 10-20 pounds, but then man bred them down to 7 and under. It's hard to see anymore big yorkies like my Jill. But I love her the way she is and couldn't ask for a better dog. |
I would try my best to hold my fist back! |
