Has anyone taken their yorkie to Vegas? I know this is a touchy subject, BUT: I will be going to Vegas for work in a few weeks. I'll probably go up the weekend before and hang out with a couple friends/coworkers, including the girl who I adopted Thor from. We will be staying at the Bellagio for the conference. I would like to take Thor: - I am going to be travelling quite a bit over the next few months, and I would like to see how he does on an airplane. Las Vegas is a short flight, so it's an ideal first run. - Thor's first mommy would love to see him, and we could alternate taking him out for walks and such every day. The problem of course is that the Bellagio doesn't allow dogs. I'm not a big gambler, and would be happy to spend my free time outside with Thor, walking on the side streets. So: has anyone taken their yorkie to Vegas? Has anyone stayed in the Bellagio specifically, or at any of the luxury hotels on the strip? Was the experience good/bad? I know a number of people don't agree with sneaking dogs into hotels, so if it's possible, I'd like to keep this thread focused on Vegas specifically. I'm happy to resurrect one of the many threads here on whether sneaking dogs in means that you are a terrible person if that helps. But if you must post recriminations here, I can't stop you. Thanks in advance. |
Also, I believe there's a yorkie convention of some sort going on later in the year... if you have advice on pet friendly hotels / locations in Vegas, that would be great too. |
I have stayed at The Venetian - but didn't take any of the fur babies with me, so don't know what their policy is regarding dogs. OK just checked their website, they only allow ADA dogs. Does this help? Pet Friendly Hotels in Las Vegas |

I'm going back and forth on this. I guess I'll wait to see what Thor's other mommy says, since she is on vacation at the moment. I haven't been to Vegas in a while, but I remember the strip as being very crowded, and it might not be much fun to walk Thor around there... hm. |

Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas: A Luxury Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada I remember it as being very crowded as well, I had problems getting around on my scooter because of all the crowds. |
I went to vegas twice this summer and thought about taking him with me, but i couldn't find any pet friendly hotels on the strip. does the friend you got him from live in Vegas? maybe he can stay with her, or a family member? |
I've taken Uni before, to Excalibur, talk about high end LOL. We didn't have any problems. It was during MAGIC and Vegas is always packed during their shows. They don't allow pets either but we did it anyway. Would I do it again? Probably not. I'd just find a pet friendly place. Most motels and lower end places are ok with it and have a relatively low pet fee. I have stayed at Bellagio before though, and it is nice, but nothing sooo special about it that I would demand to stay there everytime I was in Vegas. The buffet is nothing to write home about either. I did have Uni in a carrier and walked around the mall for a few hours. Uni kept quiet and in return no one hassled me. Not even sure if the mall allows pets in there (Fashion Show mall). I wouldn't walk Thor outside though, esp not now, it's way too hot. The streets will burn up Thor's pads in a second. Even if you carry him, just being outside is way too hot. |
The Four Seasons is a section of Mandalay Bay, from what I've heard. Like the very very top floors of Mandalay are actually the Four Seasons. it'd be really nice, I'd think!! |
Ours has been on planes all over the Country, especially from Chicago to Phoenix, but never stayed in a Vegas Hotel. On Road trips, we have never had a problem finding one pet freindly. Call the Hotels and ask who weill let the dog stay. Good luck. Also, it is quite hot there now, so I doubt you will be doing a lot of "street walking"! (did I just type that?) |

Yes, the strip is very crowded, especially during the weekends. I wouldn't walk a small dog there. However, there's a outdoor Premium Outlet Mall (new one in the north, not the old one in the south) that allows pets. You can take Thor there Las Vegas Premium Outlets |
I'd thought Thor might need a haircut, but I hadn't thought about how hot the sidewalks would be. Sounds like I should just board him. Wah! I hate being away from him. :( |

I haven't spent four days away from him in almost a year, I think. I almost don't even want to go for the weekend. |
I'm so sorry. I'm a super master sneaker too but Vegas just seems so hot and unbearably crowded for either of you to have a good time. You'll be worried about Thor the entire time. I've only been there once, but from what I remember, and how much of a scaredy cat Kaji is, it's not worth it. |
[QUOTE=shodanusmc;3250271 "street walking"! (did I just type that?)[/QUOTE] yup you did, and there are quite a few streetwalkers on the strip too;) |
Temperatures in Las Vegas Yesterday it was 110 degrees in Vegas.... with all the concrete it feels more like 120...... definitely do not take your Yorkie with you. |
