Has anyone taken their yorkie to Vegas? I know this is a touchy subject, BUT: I will be going to Vegas for work in a few weeks. I'll probably go up the weekend before and hang out with a couple friends/coworkers, including the girl who I adopted Thor from. We will be staying at the Bellagio for the conference. I would like to take Thor: - I am going to be travelling quite a bit over the next few months, and I would like to see how he does on an airplane. Las Vegas is a short flight, so it's an ideal first run. - Thor's first mommy would love to see him, and we could alternate taking him out for walks and such every day. The problem of course is that the Bellagio doesn't allow dogs. I'm not a big gambler, and would be happy to spend my free time outside with Thor, walking on the side streets. So: has anyone taken their yorkie to Vegas? Has anyone stayed in the Bellagio specifically, or at any of the luxury hotels on the strip? Was the experience good/bad? I know a number of people don't agree with sneaking dogs into hotels, so if it's possible, I'd like to keep this thread focused on Vegas specifically. I'm happy to resurrect one of the many threads here on whether sneaking dogs in means that you are a terrible person if that helps. But if you must post recriminations here, I can't stop you. Thanks in advance. |

Also, I believe there's a yorkie convention of some sort going on later in the year... if you have advice on pet friendly hotels / locations in Vegas, that would be great too. |

I have stayed at The Venetian - but didn't take any of the fur babies with me, so don't know what their policy is regarding dogs. OK just checked their website, they only allow ADA dogs. Does this help? Pet Friendly Hotels in Las Vegas |

I'm going back and forth on this. I guess I'll wait to see what Thor's other mommy says, since she is on vacation at the moment. I haven't been to Vegas in a while, but I remember the strip as being very crowded, and it might not be much fun to walk Thor around there... hm. |

Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas: A Luxury Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada I remember it as being very crowded as well, I had problems getting around on my scooter because of all the crowds. |

I went to vegas twice this summer and thought about taking him with me, but i couldn't find any pet friendly hotels on the strip. does the friend you got him from live in Vegas? maybe he can stay with her, or a family member? |

I've taken Uni before, to Excalibur, talk about high end LOL. We didn't have any problems. It was during MAGIC and Vegas is always packed during their shows. They don't allow pets either but we did it anyway. Would I do it again? Probably not. I'd just find a pet friendly place. Most motels and lower end places are ok with it and have a relatively low pet fee. I have stayed at Bellagio before though, and it is nice, but nothing sooo special about it that I would demand to stay there everytime I was in Vegas. The buffet is nothing to write home about either. I did have Uni in a carrier and walked around the mall for a few hours. Uni kept quiet and in return no one hassled me. Not even sure if the mall allows pets in there (Fashion Show mall). I wouldn't walk Thor outside though, esp not now, it's way too hot. The streets will burn up Thor's pads in a second. Even if you carry him, just being outside is way too hot. |

The Four Seasons is a section of Mandalay Bay, from what I've heard. Like the very very top floors of Mandalay are actually the Four Seasons. it'd be really nice, I'd think!! |

Ours has been on planes all over the Country, especially from Chicago to Phoenix, but never stayed in a Vegas Hotel. On Road trips, we have never had a problem finding one pet freindly. Call the Hotels and ask who weill let the dog stay. Good luck. Also, it is quite hot there now, so I doubt you will be doing a lot of "street walking"! (did I just type that?) |

Yes, the strip is very crowded, especially during the weekends. I wouldn't walk a small dog there. However, there's a outdoor Premium Outlet Mall (new one in the north, not the old one in the south) that allows pets. You can take Thor there Las Vegas Premium Outlets |

I'd thought Thor might need a haircut, but I hadn't thought about how hot the sidewalks would be. Sounds like I should just board him. Wah! I hate being away from him. :( |

I haven't spent four days away from him in almost a year, I think. I almost don't even want to go for the weekend. |

I'm so sorry. I'm a super master sneaker too but Vegas just seems so hot and unbearably crowded for either of you to have a good time. You'll be worried about Thor the entire time. I've only been there once, but from what I remember, and how much of a scaredy cat Kaji is, it's not worth it. |

[QUOTE=shodanusmc;3250271 "street walking"! (did I just type that?)[/QUOTE] yup you did, and there are quite a few streetwalkers on the strip too;) |

Temperatures in Las Vegas Yesterday it was 110 degrees in Vegas.... with all the concrete it feels more like 120...... definitely do not take your Yorkie with you. |

http://www.alexispark.com/index.html This is the place that the show will be held in Nov. I think it's just off the strip across from the Hard Rock. Yes, it is extremely hot here - it was 100 until around 11pm last night, and I live in the NW part of town, but it is a dry heat. The pavement does get scorching hot.:D Unfortunately, Vegas is not the most dog friendly city, however, my friend used to work at the Belagio as a Mgr of the salon and I know that some people brought their tiny Yorkies in with them but they were in carriers. I,myself, wouldn't take my dogs walking on the strip. It's hard enough for people. :D I do see alot of people with their dogs so I'm sure there are some places you can bring them but mine are not that small so I've never tried. Uhh did you want me to keep Thor for you? I'm not sure you'd get him back but.... lol! :p If there's anything I can do to help you out - just let me know, ok? |

I wouldn't want to bring Thor somewhere unless he was spending a lot of time outside the hotel, and not in a bag. It's such a bummer! First, I had to let go of my fantasy trip with Thor in Hawaii, because dogs get quarantined there, now, Vegas. Oh well, I am definitely going to be taking him to Utah in a few months (and spending an insane amount on the hotel's pet fee), and then to Arizona in the winter. |

Hey, now we are thinking about Vegas for the InterBike show there at the end of Sept. I'm considering taking Uni, but I would stay at a small hotel or inn, not a huge casino. Now that I think about it, I hate having to park far, then walk through the huge lot, then walk through the huge casino to check in, the go up a million floors, then walk down the huge hallway to get to my room. I found out that the La Quinta near the Sands Expo is pet friendly and NO PET FEE! Whee! Free breakfast too! And it's close enough to the expo center that we can pop in every few hours. Thinking about it.... :) |

Quicksliver, We just got back from vacation in Vegas, stayed at the 4 seasons, it was very nice. It is above the mandalay bay casino, it's own entrance, elevators, etc. quite, no drunks in the hall, great staff. BUT it is more expensive than some of the other strip hotels though not all, definitely first class. You could also try the trump towers their rooms are less but they charge a pet fee, non refundable of course. The 4 seasons has a spot in front of the hotel where you can "walk" not much of a spot but some, Sprocket and I went at 5am and it was 85, again at about 6:30 105, and then about 10:30p again 85-90. Now it is just so blessed hot. But we NEVER walked on the ashalt, only a little on the concrete, washed down with cold water both before and after, made sure the feet were clean from the dirty sidewalks and not burnt. The doorman at the 4 seasons always had icecold water and cold wet cloths and lots of doggie bags. Which we made good use of all. We used our kwiggie bo or our stroller and went everywhere except the pool. Although Sprocket doesn't really like the casino noise much, "wheel of fortune" :D . We met and talked to many people with small dogs, they either looked the other way when we weren't supposed to be there or out right ignored us. But Sprocket has had a summer hair cut and was not outside alot, but none of the malls had any problems, and the shopping is WOW, outlets and regular, lots of good buys, 60-80% off on many things if you are looking to shop. Only one good dog spot I found flea bag in henderson, nice people, but a drive. But of course the people watching is my favorite sport. And that is a show that is priceless. Enjoy, we did. :animal-pa |
