leaving dog in the car I'm really angry still just thinking about it. I went to Target Friday last week after my therapist appointment like I normally do and parked right in the first parking space of the store a car with all the windows down and a older looking dachshund in there walking around. It was over 90 outside! I was sooooooo angry I wanted to just go to the car and pick the dog up and take it but my anxiety kept me from doing it and that made me angry at myself and sad. I got soooo sick to my stomach and I just wanted to cry. If you have to go to the store NEVER EVER leave your dog in the car especially when it is 90 degrees outside! It cruelty even if u say its just for 5 minutes its not safe or fair for the dog. |
Thats terrible. I would of left a note (and I have once before) about how cruel people like that are! Or call the Dog Warden and file a complaint. I cannot believe people do this. |
If you go in to the store and tell the people at guest service they will get the AP (Store cops) to go out there, or they will put it over the loud speaker at the store. This really makes the people embarrassed when that happens |
I hate when I see this too.. :( Why don't they just leave them at home!? |
I think this is awful, I live in Canada, and it's too hot here in the summer to keep a dog in the car, I can only imagine what it's like further south. People are just dumb. I agree with reporting it to the store and having it announced or something like that... it's really cruel for the dogs to be trapped in something like that. |
ugh that just makes me sick, people think its ok because there is a cracked window but thats still not enough! i could never leave my baby in the car especially in the summer. |

There is a show on TV called "What Would You Do" or something like that and they just did a show on a baby left in a car and what people did when they saw it. I didn't see the show, but wish I had. Leaving a dog in a car is the same, IMO, as leaving a baby. Both are helpless to save themselves from that kind of stupidity, neglect or cruelty. |

I hate that as well. not long ago I went to a restaurant with my parents. We parked the car and my Dad said look its a yorkie. I walked over there, and sure enough a little yorkie was sitting in the car with its little tongue hanging out. The windows were down about 1 inch. The car was not running. I called the police, they said go into the restaurant and tell them to make an announcement, so I did. the waitress walked around asking everyone if they had a dog in there car. This women speaks up, its my car and the dog is fine, She went outside comes back in and said it cooler in the car then outside ! at that time it was 100 outside. How is that possible. by this time everyone was walking over and looking out the window and looking at the car and the women. she sits back down to finish eating. finally the waitress said the police are on the way and she got so mad she wrapped up all there food and went out to the car rolled down the windows and drove off.I can not understand why you would take your dog in the car if you know you are going to have to leave it by its self. The sick thing these people were on vacation, so this poor dog had to look forward to this for at least a week. Some people just do not deserve animals. |
I would call 911 ASAP without hesitation!!! I would NEVER walk away without making a noise about someone leaving a dog in the car in that kind of heat! |
I don't understand why not take the dog with you if you have a small dog. I go to the supermarket, department stores, even restaurants with my dog in her little carrier. No one even knows she's in there - they just think its my bag. I'm sorry............ but you must be a total idiot if you think that the dog is okay on a hot day, in a locked car, with the window down an inch. |
This summer here in Cincinnati some idiot left his dog in the car & someone did call 911. The cops came, busted out the window to get the dog & then arrested the man for animal cruelty when he came back! |
