The Petfinder Addicts Anonymous Thread 2 Attachment(s) Anyone else have a problem with viewing Petfinder? I always tend to do a quick peek every night searching for that perfect dog. I know some people who already have too many dogs even do it, too! Ha! So this thread is for us, and the dogs we want, but know we can't have.:( Currently, I am wanting these dogs BAD... (they have listed as JRT mix but I think he looks like a total Yorkie mix). He's the first picture. Scrappy is a 3-4 yr old male Wirehaired terrier/Jack Russell mix who is looking for a new forever home. He weighs about 18 lbs, and is an all around cute little fellow. Scrappy's owner is pregnant and can't take her allergy meds during her pregnancy, so Scrappy is looking for a new home. He is housetrained, neutered and up to date on all his shots. This is one nice young man who deserves a great home. He is fine with children. His adoption donation is $300.00. We require a fenced yard if there are kids under the age of 12 in the home. Here's the second dude, who looks like Jackson's twin! Rudy is a highly active, adorable sturdy little yorkie, more a family dog than a foo-foo dog. He's 13 lbs, 3 yrs old, neutered, up to date on shots and healthy. Rudy LOVES to run. He needs a fenced yard, an active young little dog to play with. His previous owners thought he was "anxious", and we are trying to determine if his running is circles is energy release or anxiety. Either way he needs a yard and attention. At night if you are sitting on the couch he'll be calm and sit with you. He rides well in a car, is a kisser, loves playing with children, play fetch, likes baths and tons of attention. He knows "sit" and "come" so the basics are there, and he is really housebroken and knows "time to go potty". Being a small dog, however, he can't hold it all day, so he must have a home with someone home a lot, with a fenced yard and another active dog so they can run and chase. With all of his medical done, his adoption fee is $300 for this young dog. |
Okay Brit, I think Rudy is the perfect dog for you!! I can understand why you are having issues... If I were you, I'd pick him up asap! :p |

I belong in that club. There's no way I can afford another dog. I look all the time anyway and torture myself...I wish I could rescue them all! People must think I'm crazy....sometimes I look when I'm at work and someone will come up behind me and say "are you getting another dog?"....they look at me like I'm weird when I say "no, I just like looking" |
I totally have this problem! I'm always looking at petfinder and the available puppies at rescue organizations, but it's not possible for me to get a second right now! But those sweet little faces are always calling my name! |
Well... My name is Sonja and I am a Petfinder Addict... I go there at least 3 or 4 times a week knowing that 5 are really really enough... {{{sigh}}}... If you wanna fuel your addiction even more go there: Rescue Me Yorkie Rescue but let me warn you... they are close and very nice... we got Maggie from them... :) |
Hello, my name is Donna and I'm a Petfinder addict. I admit that I am powerless to stay away from that site. I relinquish all illusions of control. |
lol why do we do this to ourselves? We enjoy the torture? Even if I go on Petfinder in my area there rarely are some if any so I end up looking at the ones in the states and there's no way they will adopt out. But let me tell you I found this little guy don't know there's just something about that wittle face, he looks like quite the character....... oh well whoever will get him will certainly have a blast. Adoptable Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Olliver: Petfinder |
Aww Oliver reminds me so much of my Couver... He LOVES to play soccer :) he's adorable, and I'm sure he will be adopted soon |
Brit, you are too funny. I managed to curb my Petfinder and rescue websites addictions. However, I found out that keeping in touch with our breeder and giving her updates can be just as dangerous. :p;) We started talking about dogs and she said Max sounded like a boy she kept from the same parents: long legs, keen nose, loves walks. That's how Teddy came into our lives. |
I use to be on petfinder at least 3 times a day. No, I'm not kidding. Then Kaji came and now I'm only on there once every few weeks. I SOOOO want yorkie #2, but I'm scared. What if Kaji doesn't like him? What if Kaji would only get along with a girl? (I  the boys) What if I can't handle 2? :( UGH! I'm already freaking myself out and I can't have 2 yet. :p But if I could, here's the little boy of my dreams. Teddy Boo's Special Story Adi saw his profile while he was still in a city/county shelter. We were going to spring him from doggy jail until YTNR beat us to it. Now.... I'm off to check petfinder. :D:D |
OMG!! He looks like Alaska Mike's Eddy!! Adoptable Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Gizmo: Petfinder |

I have to get off this thread!!!! You are NOT helping you guys!!!!! |
My name is Erin, and I am a Petfinder, CL, Hoobly, and E-bay Classifieds Addict. Now that I have my city limit of 3 dogs, I'm trying very hard to break my dependency on these sites! :p Instead I focus on spoiling my babies to death... and then I get consumed by that! :D I don't agree with many of the stipluations that rescues have. I've adopted from an awesome rescue before, and if they had gotten a Yorkie in they would have let me take it no questions asked! They know how good we are to our pets.:) So, I choose to look for a private owner re-homing one, and even though it was a 4 hour drive each way... I think we did the best thing. Because now when it's time to welcome another in our home (later on down the road) I'll be able to say "Yes I've had a Yorkie, yes I had other big dogs with my Yorkie, and yes I had my yorkie around small children!" |
I'm so addicted, I got the i-phone app! ;) Right now, I am totally obsessed with two little Biewer boys in Atlanta. I have six dogs, if I'm not careful, I'm gonna end up on one of the hoarder reality shows! :yelrotflm |

Absolutely! My dogs are all on a high quality diet, my house is very clean, at least cleaner than most homes with children, and my vets would go to court for me. I spend thousands every year on dentals alone! With over four dogs over the age of 14, my vet bills would make most people choke. Add the cost of agility classes, toys, collars, leashes, coats, beds and fleece throws (an obsession my IGs got me into) and many people would think I should be institutionalized. I tell people I could drive a Mercedes if I didn't have all these dogs, and I mean it! But I can't love a car like I love my dogs. :D |

add my name to the list. I browse PetFinder every morning. It's paid off...that's how I found Riley..just from browsing... I still can add one more dog per the county...so I will continue to browse :) Brit, good luck in your search!! |
I like looking at petfinder, humane society, no kill shelters, etc, but with 3 dogs, 4 cats (and a roomba which I highly recommend to keep the house not looking like a zoo), I can't as much as I would love to get another pet, it just wouldn't be fair. Everytime I drive by the park on my way home, nothing makes me smile more than a dog wagging his/her tail, tongue hanging out with that "happy walk"!! My daughter and I both volunteered at a no kill shelter last summer, and despite the sweaty work, it was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The people at these shelters/adoption agencies really have the animals best interest at heart. Here's too all who adopt these animals and give them a forever home!!! :animal-pa |

I would LOVE to have Crystal...such a sweet face....but I'm in Arkansas and she's in PA. Such is my luck... |

Anyway can never turn my back on an animal that is thrown away like trash. I think all of the people on this forum are in the samd mindset...:animal36 |
