Pet stores are for the most part supplied by Puppy Mills...Need I say more. You don't know what you'll get. While all pups are cute (remember that, when you're looking for a breeder, because those desreputable ones are counting on that you'll fall in love with that cute puppy). Stay away from classifieds, internet, BYBers & puppy mills. If you find something that you think maybe to your likeing...come back and share it with us....

I know that some of the comments have been harsh, but so many on here have done what you planned to do, rush. Believe me they've had a lot of heartache. So, take your time, this is a life time committment......There is a couple of stickies on here that give you information on how to buy a puppy and find a good breeder.

Remember we only have your interest at heart and of course your new puppy.

In addition buying from a pet store only perpetuates the puppy mill syndrome. Find a good breeder, support good breeders.

All store bought puppies come from horrendous places called puppy mills. I know store owners or workers will say that they come from local breeders that love their dogs, but that is a BIG FAT LIE!!! What caring person will hand over their puppies to be sold by someone else? A great breeder takes the time to health test the breeding pair, takes a lot of time to make sure everything is done with the health and safety of the breeding pair and the future pups. The breeder takes pride and loses a lot of time and sleep to make sure to bring loved and wanted babies into the world. After spending all that time and effort, they will want to make sure the babies go to the very best homes. At a petstore, the puppies are released to anyone who shows up with cash or has a credit card handy.

Yes the comment are harsh but i can take it and i need to know the reality of it all it has been awhile since i purchased a puppy

Good luck with your search. It took me months to find a breeder somewhat close to me and then I waited a few more months until she had a litter ready. By that time, we had already met and she had approved me as a potential owner and I had been to her house and met the mother and father.

It IS hard to wait when you have your heart set on a little puppy. But that might be the best thing to do instead of just rushing into it.

But considering that this little heartbeat is going to be with you for many years - you want to be sure you have found the absolutely perfect dog for you.

Excellent advice! Whether you decide on a breeder or a rescue make sure that you do your research and ask lots of questions! We are all here to help you make a responsible educated choice for your new Yorkie. Welcome to YT! :)
