Do any of you... Let your little ones wear collars , fashionable ones of course, when you are out and about. I would never let Roxie wear one around the house or when shes crated, but would love to purchase one for when we go out. Do you all have any photos of your babies showing off their bling? LOL..Thanks! |
Kaji's are plain and he wears a collar 24/7 for ID purposes. Lately, he's been 100% nekkid around the house. :p |
Hmm, my dog is so hairy that I never buy fancy collars - I can't even see regular ones under her fur! She does wear a collar around the house while someone is home because she occasionally makes a mad dash for the door and I don't want to risk her getting lost outside w/o tags. If she is crated then I remove the collar. I'm actually thinking of buying her a cat collars for home and the crate because those will snap apart with a little force, thus the likelihood of choking Is low ( I guess it depends on the size/strength of your dog too? I dunno if a 2lb dog could break away). |
Sugar wears a suede collar w/ swarovski crystals (that she came with ;)) on a daily basis.....but walkies are with a choke free harness!! |
I have never put a collar on either of my boys! I just haven't had the need to. When I'm home I'm like a hawk with them, when I'm not home I wouldn't chance the collar getting stuck on something and them getting hurt or worse with no one there. I'm a worry wart I think! LOL |
Maddie has a collar that matches her harness. She never wears it though. I also would never walk her with it...she likes to bounce around too much! Now her harness is too small and I need to get a bigger one, but I'm not sure where to look. I bought the same brand she had in the next size up but it was WAY too big, even taken up all the way! She is a little big for the "toy" size but way to small for "small." Anybody have any suggestions? |

I would love to see a picture of her with her collar! I also have a harness, so the collar would just be for fashion purposes...lol... |
My furs wear collars 24/7 w/ ID tags (microchipped too)...but the collars are very carefully fitted, for safety. For where I live in metro Phoenix, I just feel I have to give them every possible chance to be ID'd if something happened. Someone tried to break into our house a couple years ago - and all I could think about was the doggies. Luckily, we have an alarm, and they scrammed - all was safe. Oh also, Marcel and Pfeiffer each wear a bell bc of size :). I get collars here and just love them! I ask her to make them ribbon-on-ribbon (rather than the standard ribbon on canvas) for the small doggies and I love how lightweight it is and thin. I get the break-away clasp. This is an example of Pfeiffer's collar (but, break-away): Cloe's Collars |

You know what Ann, I think yorkies are crossed with ninjas. Kaji has this super secret ninja mode where he sneaks up on me. I only know he's there because of a yelp. He wears a bell too. |

Well it WAS pretty Sophie wears a pink suede one with a "diamond" heart in the center. Now I have so many id tags on her AKC, Chip id, Rabies Tag, plus a beautiful dogbone shaped id with crystals  on one side & my cell phone number & the word "reward" on the other, that it is getting kind of grungy looking. I am so paranoid about her getting lost that I make her wear them all day, but they come off only if she is in her crate. Everyone thinks I'm over doing it, but after you have read a few stories about them skipping out the door or whatever you don't want to take the chance. That being said, harness for walks or fastened in her "puppy purse".:thumbup: |
I wonder if the law varies state to state as to what they are required to wear. I'm goingto look it up now. Right now you hear, "ding, ding" but we hear, "bang, clash, bang" with all three tags hitting each other. |
Jackson has a collar on pretty much 24/7 with an ID tag. He is also microchipped. SO many dogs are returned because a person finds a dog and calls the number on their tags. There have been a few threads on here alone where a dog is returned because of a collar/ID. Harnesses are used for walking, collars are pretty much 24/7, minus bath-time. Jackson has a TON of collars but they're all pretty plain, just different colors for different occasions, lol. I buy cheap collars from Dollar Store, Target, or Kmart, etc. |
Levi wears his collar every single time we leave our house no matter what...even if we are just going down the street for a quick walk or going to visit my parents' house. Their yard isn't fenced in and though I trust them to be careful not to let him out the door, I'm not taking any chances. His collar is fitted correctly and has three tags: ID tag, rabies tag, and a tag that explains that he is microchipped. Of course we use a harness for walking...the collar is just for ID safety measures. |
Poppy's too small for a collar at the moment but I have got a soft velvet one with her ID tag on that I will put on her as soon as it fits, it's just for ID purposes though. |

I also have several stickers and a credit-card size card with the number on it, they stay in my wallet, house, etc...sounds kind of like what you carry on your keychain. |

Yes, mine wear one with their rabies and tag with name/add/phone on them whenever they do anywhere. |
Boo wears collars all the time. He has his tags on them, and sometimes little charms which are adorable. It's carefully fitted so that it won't catch on things and we never attach a leash to it. It's just for fashion and id purposes and the tags and charms make a little jingling sound so i always know where he is. We like to accessorize. Plus he knows when he sees me grab his harness that we are going somewhere and he gets really excited. |
okay glad to know other yorkies are super sneaky. Big scare today at the park kids playing dog on leash with the harness, I look over and see that there is this cute yorkie that looks just like Paris then I realize it is Paris she had gotten out of her harness it was the step in kind, my daughter put it on, all we can figure is that she did not put it on right. So lesson learned check harness to make sure it is put on right. Never think they can't get out of it. |
Morgan has always worn a collar 24/7 since she was a baby. never had a problem. I love the douglas paquette collars. https://www.douglaspaquette.com/miva...PA_COLLARS2007 we sell them in the shop i work at so i'm always getting new ones. they are super cute and have many different designs, styles, and types. |
Sophie Kate wears a collar 24/7 with her ID Tag which has her name and my cell phone number only. She is also microchipped so hopefully if she is ever lost someone would call me (they would about the time she chewed up one of their flip flops). |
my pups always wear a collar when we go out with their IDs because you NEVER know what could happen. They have over 40 collars to match anything or go with any time of year or holiday. haha |
Cody wears a collar 24/7 with rabies tag and ID; also he is microchipped. I'm terrified that he might get away; he's so quick. He has several harnesses but usually wears his new Puppia Mesh Sport step in harness. |
Buster and Maggie wear collars with ID tags 24/7. I have seen plenty of "lost ads" at my vet for Yorkies that were not wearing a collar or ID tag. |
Pistol wears a properly fitted ( fit checked every day ) colar 24/7. Chipped or not I feel safer giving him as many chances to be returned to me as possible, if he were to get loose. |
